Finally attempted the Bluff Knoll descent segment on Strava - managed to just sneak into 1st place. Have been hiking this stunning mountain for years and always wanted to give the descent record a crack. Enjoy the grunts.

We just did bluff knoll a couple days ago and I kept reminding myself of this video as motivation while struggling up and back down the mountain.

Awesome effort Cam. That’s one tough descent at best let alone at that speed. Looks like you picked a good time with very few people around.

Great video! As a road marathoner for the past 5 years, I've only just begun doing trail runs on easy days - I just posted a virtual run through the woods - so much fun! Your post is very inspirational. As a fellow KZfaqr, I love sharing my experiences and knowledge as well. I know how much goes into these videos! Keep posting - I just subscribed!

@@CamBostock I don't know, it looks quite hairy. I'd probably be able to get down quicker, though whether I stay on the bike would be a whole different story!!

I was doing some research to figure out who has the fastest time to get down bluff knoll. I was having fun the other day and manage to get down in 15 minutes very interesting definitely going to have to get Strava so you can see a tracked time, keep watch of that record 😉

I know how impressive this is because I tried it myself and got nowhere near your time lol. Total time up and down was 1h38m (that includes 10m rest at the summit). I made it up in 52 minutes but somehow took nearly as long to get down (36 minutes, also sprained my ankle (not a bad sprain luckily) towards the finish line so had to walk the last 500m or so). The hardest part about going downhill was how slippery the gravel/loose rocks were, was very hard to run without slipping and was difficult to slow down at certain points. Any advice?

Not sure this true. After climbing the front face, we abseiled down, yes it is a descent. I'm also fairly certain there have been mountain bike races up and down as well. Change the title to fastest "pedestrian" or "running" descent.

@@CamBostock human motor? I've also seen winged suit and base jump descents. FYI, you beat my "human motor" time, by a long, long way.....I imagine downhill MUST hurt more?
