In this video I'm going to show you how to paint forget me not flowers in a realistic, but playful way. I loved having the opportunity to play around with the color palette and make it a little more interesting.

Haha, I have a few decades of practice (not with watercolor quite yet) with fine arts, but I’m still pretty slow! Go as slow as you need to 😉 it gets easier!

I am so glad you go slow!!! I’m trying to learn how to paint in watercolors and everyone goes so fast and make it look so easy. I don’t like instagram and those paintings are in fast motion and it drives me crazy. I’m looking for a drawing and painting class near me but can’t find any yet.

For beginners I recommend working with acrylic specific or “all purpose” brushes, actually! Watercolor brushes are super soft and hold a TON of water, which can make them hard to understand and work with without experience. Princeton Heritage is great if you’re looking for better quality. @katrinacrouch You made my day as well! Forget-me-nots are my favourite flowers since my early childhood. A few days ago one little girl who is learning to draw and paint asked me what she can draw for me to give me as a birthday present. Of course, I said “forget-me-nots”! ) But she didn’t know what they look like or how to draw them. Your video is just perfect for her to learn. Those rare moments that make you smile when there is war in your country and there is so much grief around, are priceless. Thank you again. Love from Ukraine. ❤️

Forget-me-nots look more blue to me than this lilac. Is that because of the colour balance on your camera or my eyes/brain (I have Multiple Sclerosis)? Also, where can we find the reference photo and outline drawing?

Yes, as I said in the video the color is coming across more purple. Obviously due to the mix of red in the blue, there are some areas that are more purple than others but that is not the overall effect. ☺️ The painting templates can be found here: www.blusheddesign.com/shop?category=Painting+Template

Please don’t take this personally, but I was a little surprised when you said the outline you made super inexpensive. It’s a digital download. It just requires making a PDF and you’re charging seven dollars each for those. That’s not really super cheap, it seems to be super high given what it is. It just it just seemed odd to call that cheap when it’s just a pdf outline of flowers.

No offense taken 😊 “Affordable” and “cheep” have always been relative terms depending on the person, financial situations and the value that they place on the object. As a working fine artist and mother, I value my artwork highly and price it accordingly-no matter the format.
