I try to explain the difference between a factory Blythe doll and a fake Blythe doll, and I also mention stock Blythe dolls a little too. Why would you call one doll a fake and another a factory? Subscribe: / tammypowley

I personally think fake and factory dolls are more better than the stock dolls because I don't think living 400 days earning a dollar everyday whenever I go to school.

The whole real vs 'fake' discussion is fueled by a desire in some people to feel superior to others. I think it also comes from a place of jealousy when they realize they spent $150 or whatever on a doll that someone else bought for much less. The other comments here pretty well define the reality that so called 'fake' dolls aren't actually 'fake' but come from the same factories as boxed Takaras. And of course if you are buying a OOAK custom, most likely the body, eye chips, hair and clothes have all been replaced anyway so what have you gained in spending $150 on a boxed Takara? The only 'fake' Blythe is one wherein someone is recasting the head plates themselves.

That is very true of the OOAKs!

All successful companies have a second market for distributing sub-par goods. A certain amount of dolls are made for the actual "designer" doll, then they make more mass distribution. If this company is going to stay afloat just making the "real" dolls they wouldn't make any money. Especially considering the price point of some of these dolls. Honestly, I have factory dolls that are more well put together than the real dolls.

Good points & I've long felt like the company must somehow be involved in the whole fake doll market. & I have had some amazing fake dolls. Madison, my 2nd fake, is every bit as high quality as my real ones. In fact, her hair is better than some of my real ones.

@@TammyPowley it’s not a fake doll, because it is, in fact, a doll. It just isn’t an original Blythe doll.

The company producing takara dolls are a corporation. They are not a small artist working from their basement studio. Therefore, making replicas of their dolls is still ethical. Not everyone can afford to spend upwards of 180 USD for a doll, but many still want something with a similar look and feel. Factory dolls provide that!

Good points, and copyright laws are not the same world-wide.

The story behind those old factory dolls is, that any leftover parts of real dolls were used to form new ones, that have flaws, but because they have unique eye and hair combination, are so pretty. The one I have now has Ribbonetta eyeballs and chips, light tan eyelids (probably star dancer or Ebony), hair like enchanted forest, the face mold is rbl from 2014 and before. The legs are a bit loose at the hips, but all the parts look and feel like the original dolls, not the currently factory fakes, which are like a whole different product, different materials and noticeable mold/body differences (even when they have the same type of original body)

Well they probs bought a real one, made a mold of it and then mas-produced the knock-offs (the ones on Aliexpress).

Very possible. It's hard to say for sure.

Now I get it. It makes sense. You can’t use the term “fake” and sell your product on this forum. Come up with anther term and then we’ll sell some dolls!

Nothing wrong with that, though, warning - one often starts to multiply when you buy a Blythe doll!

Hi Tammy, Thankyou for this video, I am considering buying a factory Blythe and although I did know that they weren't "real" your video has helped a lot. Im not a collector and don't intend to be one( I know, never say never, right!) And I just want to own one and I don't really care of her condition, apart from the obvious, don't want a big black mark in the middle of her face!! Thankyou again for the info!! xx

Good to hear you found it helpful. I have a number of fakie Blythes and love them just as much as the stock (real) ones.

The fakes would be seized as counterfeit and so I think Takara have leased the moulds . The takara dolls are overpriced because it makes them more desirable. If people didn’t pay it the price would drop .
@TammyPowley3 жыл бұрын
I would bet you're right on both counts.

Factory still original to me, they are made in same factory, same material, by same machines, just didnt pass quality control, but every single piece still original...they are just "customized" lol made with pieces of different dolls like she said a Frankenstein doll (a beautiful one, but still)

The terms can get confusing for sure.

It’s a real doll, because it’s a doll. It’s not a genuine Blythe doll.
