Oil change on 2008 k1200gt. (I do believe it is the same procedure on the K1300gt). In my video I fail to mention that to get the filter wrench on the oil filter you have to loosen the 3 screws that hold the kickstand and shift lever. You don't have to remove. Also removing the one rear screw in the same area on the bottom cowling helps as well. Other than that the procedure is.... 1.drain oil tank using oil tank drain hose. 2.drain engine by remove engine drain plug on bottom of motor. 3. Change oil filter.
BTW it will end up being about 3.5 qts of oil.

I just got charged $670.00 to change oil and shaft drive oil on k1300gt. He tried to change spark plugs and quit. After watching this I'm not very happy. Doesn't look like that big of a deal.

Yeah I've always done the basic maintenance myself. An oil change kit (oil, filter, and crush washer) is about $80 max from the dealer. The rear drive oil about $20 bucks. Its definitely worth at least doing the fluids yourself. I will say its a bit of a pain to do a valve clearance check and spark plugs on the 1200/1300 GT. I actually sold my GT and I went back to a R bike (2014 RT) so its easier.

You said "that's where this tube was", you never showed where the tube connects to the bike to drain it. You never showed us the second drain.

The tube itself is the drain. When it is removed from the top of the oil tank then swung down below the tank. The oil will drain from gravity. The tube is also semi translucent and acts as a oil level indicator when in its normal position. The other drain is the same as all other bikes and located on the bottom the engine where the headers split.

there's only one tube in the video man, that's the tube he's talking about and it's already on the bike.

But the most difficult part is the filter you have to take off the kickstand assembly he just says oh and don't forget your filter you'll need a filter wrench. No Kiddin 2 thumbs down

Wouldn't the tank drain faster if the filler cap was removed?

It was loosened and left in place. It didn’t Have that much affect. Still drained slow AF out of the small tube.

Also when you pull the tube off it leaves a open hole at the top so removing it doesn’t matter

Why does everyone say how great it is the most difficult part is the filter and he doesn't say anything except oh and here's your filter you'll need a filter wrench really you got to take off the kickstand assembly to get to it thumbs down
