Күн бұрынI've replaced many injectors during my ownership of an N54 vehicle. Here is my guide on how to easily change your injectors! The job is not bad at all as long as you have all the proper tools. I finally got a set of Index 12's for my personal car so hopefully I will not have to swap anymore. Here is me taking the index 12's out of the donor vehicle and putting in my old index 8's (they were working fine).

What you'll need:
- E10 torx socket (Injector Brace)
- 14mm open end wrench (Fuel Lines)
- Precision Raceworks N54 Injector Tool or equivalent
- 8mm socket (cowl) and 5mm hex (engine cover)
- ProTool or equivalent coding software

Remove Injector Bracket: 2:48 - 3:40
Injector Removal: 3:41 - 4:47
Precision Raceworks Tool: 4:48 - 5:30
Installing Injector Info: 5:31 - 6:20
Compressing Teflon Injector Seal: 6:21 - 6:57
Installing Injector and Bracket (Trick included): 6:58 - 8:42

The hardest part is re-installing the hold down brackets. I used a retrieval magnet once I got it flipped up (I just dropped mine in the opposite way you do it, and then flip it up with my finger, piece of cake) to hold it in place. You can move it around to line the hole up and you don't have to worry about it falling back down. I don't have a magnetic socket, so I wrapped a piece of my parts receipt around the bolt head and stuffed it in the socket- holds it perfectly. Once I figured that out, putting the hold down brackets in takes about 20 seconds.

Thank you. Gave me the confidence to do this myself AND successfully on the first attempt. Didn't pull the fuse. I dealt with the little bit of gas with rags instead.

@@tunerworld None at all. I've seen where some people have a harder time with #6, but that was as easy as the others for me. I'm working on a 525hp 335is . Index8 could only get to 492hp before they showed their age when trying to push them hard after 68k miles of service. Still dialing in the new tune on the 12s. MHD did an update to the Mboost logic for the DCT recently that were adjusting for as well. I'm gonna surprise some C8 and Mustang owners when this is done.

@@FinnyG47 sweet man!!! Yeah Cylinder 6 sometimes sees some water sneak in thru those cowl seals and gets a bit corroded sometimes. I’m sure your car is gonna love those fresh injectors!

Important to note: When you remove injectors DO NOT WIGGLE THEM! The injector holes are prone to ovaling out, which will cause compression loss & fuel leaks out of the injector hole. You will be forced to buy an injector bore repair kit, so just take your time hammering the injectors upward!

I would always pull the fuse out just to release fuel pressure! Pull fuse, crank, and then disconnect battery to be safe.

I’m changing my injector four and five. I received the new ones and they both have the same numbers is that going to be a problem?

I would make sure they aren’t fake. If they are real, it isn’t a problem as long as you code them right!

@@tunerworld I went ahead and install them both. However, trying to code them with ProTools Beemer geeks and when I choose driveline. It’s telling me the ECU is not responding, or may not be compatible with this vehicle.

hopefully i get a response before doing this tmr morning but after coding the injectors u mentioned to cycle the ignition right after , do u mean press the brake and start the car and then turn off or what exactly did u mean?

I mean turn the car off by pressing the button WITHOUT the brakes and waiting 15 seconds while the car is completely off!

I am going to be doing this on my sons bmw 335 xi is it the same process for an xi? Also when u coded them from ur phone did u just plug it in a usb port? My sons car is 2008 335xi

Yep, same process with an XI! My main car is an XI. Correct, you hook up the USB to the phone using an OTG adaptor meant for your phone! Then you have to turn on developer settings on the android device

Is injector 1 at the top and 6 at the bottom?

Injector 1 is closest to the front (radiator fan) and injector 6 is closest to the firewall

Ok so what tool you need to code the injectors? Can you do only with and app (special app) and a tool for that connect's to d car ? Tho I saw a geek word for an app

BimmerGeeks ProTool! And you’ll need the OTG adapter with a KDCAN cable. They may even have new ways out now, I made this video a while ago now

I’m having issues with misfires after installing my injectors index12 off eBay.. I’m took my spark plugs out and noticed them very black You think I need new sparks plugs cuz they fouled out ? Car wasn’t misfiring before installing index 12

I thought if the injectors wiggled out that means the head ports are ovaled

A good way to check the seal is by doing a leakdown test to make sure the injector is sealing correctly. They also make a repair kit for the ovaling

The calibration numbers are all the same? Where did you get the injectors from? They may be knockoffs as the calibration numbers should all be different

Not at all! I would just reset the adaptations and let the car relearn itself
