Do you want your left front fog light to come on when turning to the left? No? What about having the Halo Lights flashing when you hit the brake pedal hard? These are just a couple of the hundreds of options that can be coded in modern BMW's! I'm going to show you how easy it is to code any modern BMW (post 2004) using the Carly Diagnostic Adaptor
We go through everything needed to have fun coding, safety warnings, prices and advice. This procedure is performed on a BMW E64 6-Series but the same routine can be used on any modern BMW. Go on, have a bit of fun for a change!

You helped me get my e70 x5 running. I live in hawaii so It was kinda funny when I ordered all the oil's and additives from your side of the pond or 2 ponds. :) but it all worked. I still have some oil come out when it's warming up but after it warms up it runs great! It run at all befor so thank you for all your video's. My wife and kids love our suv

Glad you done this video...I'm thinking of investing inna carly...for my new 650I convertible tim...yes I did upgrade time from the 645CI only lack in the 650 was the options but the colour stratis grey with matching roof is beautiful

Im just about to buy a 2007 650i convertible with a rare 6 speed manual gearbox. I will invest in a carly adapter. Some great features in it ..thanks for the vids .very clear and interesting. ❤

I wonder Timm, can we code dropping window value while opening. I would prefer drop the windows 10 mm higher. Sometimes they can touch my rubber. I lubricate everthing. Reset windows and 6 months later again.... :(

Hi Tim. What options does this offer for the convertible? I used to be able to open/lower and close/raise the windows and roof on my old E46. The E64 only allows me to open/lower windows and roof. Also can the function of folding the mirrors when locking/unlocking be set? Cheers

Hello Barry, I've just been experimenting with that today. You can code the windows to go up - but you can't get the top to close again. You can code the car so that the mirrors fold after a long push on the lock button (the mirrors move once the windows are up). A short press on open unfolds them.

Hey Timm, do you know if when you put a new battery into a BMW you will need to code it to the car? Mind you, the new battery has different parameters to the old battery.

Hello George, it all depends on the BMW - anything after 2004 needs coding if any parameter changes - including the E63/E64

@@TimmsBMWRepairsandInformation does it matter what type of alternator I put into my E60 25i? As the battery seems to be fine and I have some sort of increased battery discharge that has run a fully charged battery flat after 30mins of driving..

I think the coding is in the General Module for EDC, can you get to that module?

Hey Tim. Great video. Is it possible on the 650i pre-LCI to code the fan speed indicator - the one surrounding the control knob - to show the fan speed when fan speed is in auto-mode?

Hi Timm Where do you recommend I take my M62 E39 535i (Non Vanos) for timing chain and guides replacement? Thank you! By the way Carly is a rip-off and the owner is a scammer. I purchased some time ago and it couldn't do the things it promised to be able to do on my car (Not car's fault). Their policy claimed they would return the money if Carly can't do the job. Well you've guessed it - no money back.

Thanks for the video Tim. Could you do a video on the error messages capability for the Carly device. I have an e39 M5 and e46 330 and need a decent tool to read ABS fault codes and i'm not sure how capable this device would be for reading things like faulty wheel speed sensors ect...cheers Paolo

I suspect - but happy to be proven wrong - that INPA excels over Apps in two key areas which make debugging and problem solving much easier: Input/output values (Status) and activation of components (Activate). I'm not sure Carly can do that?

Paolo, You can easily read wheel speed sensors using INPA. I've also been able to get a reading from them using Ancel diagnostic tool FX2000. Be aware that above 15mph readings might cut out due to safety reasons - you have to be moving in order for the sensors to generate pulse. Febi sensor worked OK on my 535i 98' E39.
