Among the electric models that are highly anticipated in the next year - and there are a few of them - you can safely include the BMW i 4 on the list. The electric shift is underway at BMW and many fans of the brand are impatient for the first models of the new generation of EV to appear at dealers.
Considering the importance of the BMW i 4 sedan within the lineup, many will be watching closely how the public responds to it. Especially, the company’s long-earned reputation for building cars that deliver driving pleasure means the expectations are high for the i 4.
We won't have to wait too long to find out how the model fares in the real world: production of the vehicle has just begun. In fact, the first production-version BMW i4 has just left the automaker’s 100-year-old Munich plant.
In addition to the BMW i 4, the Munich plant also produces the BMW 3 Series (sedan and wagon), M 3 and 4 Series.
While 90 percent of the existing systems in the Munich facility can still be used to put together the new model, additional machinery and techniques were brought in to integrate the manufacturing of the i 4 high-voltage battery. According to the statement released by BMW, this required an investment of 200 million Euros.
BMW also announced that assembly of its 4-cylinder engine block will be moved to Hams Hall, United Kingdom and Steyr, Austria by the end of the year. The relocation of all engine production from Munich will be completed by 2024.
BMW Group Plant Leipzig is launching series production of the second generation of the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer. Having first reached dealerships almost seven years ago, in the autumn of 2014, the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer was quick to establish itself in the market. More than 400,000 customers have since opted to buy the premium compact, which combines functional spaciousness with a dynamic drive concept. More than 368,000 of the vehicles concerned were manufactured in Leipzig. The successor of the sporty all-rounder will be made in Leipzig only.
“After the successful debut of the first-generation BMW 2 Series Active Tourer, BMW Group Plant Leipzig is proud to produce its completely redesigned successor,” emphasised Plant Director Hans-Peter Kemser. “This vehicle is another opportunity for us to prove our wealth of experience and expertise in the manufacture of front-wheel drives in the BMW production network. The BMW 2 Series Active Tourer will also keep our plant running at capacity over the longer term.”
The key characteristics of the latest model generation are its extremely dynamic styling, clear design language and redesigned interior. In addition, the new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer takes mild hybrid technology into the compact class for the very first time, along with the latest connectivity features and extended equipment packages.

Great footage! Ever thought about adding crucial component cnc machining. Most of the complex part in high volume Production requires dazzeling cnc methodes. very difficuilt to find allowance to make suche a footage. I'm just impressed about what you can publish.

Great point! But the think is that CNC process is not done in this BMW factory... it is done in subsidiary company I guess... not 100% sure...

There's very little to no CNC machining done in car production other than some engine parts. It's too slow and expensive.

Your videos are great! I wonder if you can provide a video showing what technologies these well-known manufacturers use during the automobile assembly and production process, and how they collect production data and other information and transmit it to the central server?

The cars being built towards the end of this video are not the new, 2022 U06 version 2 Series Active Tourer, but are the previous model, which bears very little resemblance to the far improved 2022 model.

I’m very discouraged , I ordered a 22 m240i on 3/20/22 with an allocation through the Dealership and they haven’t even started production yet !

I ordered mine 2/7/22 and it will be in production 8/15/22 and my car will be in Belgium 10/17/22 at my dealer.

@@pollet79 it’s very normal these days that you need to wait 1 year for a new car.. If you’re able to buy a (pretty new) second-hand car, I would always recommend it.

Sono delle belle macchine fatte bene e costano . Pero anno delle imperfezioni e difetti . Ho una BMW x1 25e plugin xdrive di giugno la uso poco avendo fatto solo 5700 km e questo inverno ho notato che i fari led anteriori si sono appannati e in montagna si sono formati cristalli di ghiaccio e il fanalino posteriore dx si e appannato tutto fatto foto e filmati andato concessionaria BMW la loro risposta e stata si sono asciugati e non li cambiamo . Ho chiesto un documento scritto che quello che affermano sia veritiero hanno detto no vanno bene così... Gli ho risposto che la bmw rilascia una garanzia totale per qualsiasi problema . Se con il tempo si ossidano i contatti e mi va in tiltimpianto elettrico ve ne lavate le mani .. MA BMW GERMANIA sa di quetti problemi hai fari led sapendo che ogni faro costa circa 2400 euro e la macchina mi e costata 58000 Mila euro ho fatto anche assicurazione BMW e la best 5.. la garanzia e totale sapete dirmi ha chi mi posso rivolgere attendo grazi mille ..
