I also used a long zip tie to fish the wire through the rubber hose but it wouldn't come out at the end inside the trunk. I finally sprayed the inside of the hose with a liberal amount of silicon lubricant and rounded the end of the zip a little more and it easily poked through. Excellent video! I just replaced my broken factory CD/radio with a Dynavin N7 Pro and added a backup camera at the same time. I am not mechanically inclined, but this video (along with a few others) allowed me to succeed beyond my wildest expectations. I directly connected the camera to the reverse light wiring as shown at 8:15 in the video. Even though there is a lot of info on the web about noise on the E46 reverse lights, my camera works flawlessly (no need for a relay). Maybe its the camera, an EchoMaster CAM-01 that I bought from Dynavin with the head unit, or maybe my 05 E46 ZHP has improved circuitry. In either case, the video makes it clear where to make the connections--something I would have had no clue about. Thanks, ShopLife, for this and other great videos!

Very well done. The hardest part is actually running the wiring from the back of the car to the front but the way I bypass this what's purchasing a wireless camera installation kit cut the work down in half

Great video as usual,but did not show which wire connected to which.I had so many wires come with mine,lots of short Red one which appear to go nowhere. Also having the Face lift 330 Ci Coup'e,i cannot work out on the rear connector behind side lights,which wire goes to side lights and so on. There is not a manual with it in.

Hopefully you can help me. Got an eonon 5150 and a 2002 E46 sedan. Tried to connect the rearview canera. It lights up so there's power but no display shows on the eonon. Whenever I go in reverse the music stops and the screen goes blank

I've try installing a reverse camera on my 2004 e46 and it wasn't until I saw this video that everything click. One comment if I may try paying more attention to the wiring connections will be great. I was trying to figure out where the red wire that is on the Yellow RCA cable goes and thanks to you I think now I know. That it is the trigger wire and its used if the camera does not operate but it has the same connection on the other end so where do you connect that one. Hey mate, me and my friend bought a navi system from AliExpress and it's working perfect, i have the facelift model with the 40 pin harnass and my friend has the older Pre-facelift style 17 pin harnass, My navi system goes into rear camera modus out of the box even without the camera attached however for my friend we installed the camera but the system doesn't go in rear-view mode at all, we did the wiring as you described in the video and in the end you say if the system doesn't go in rear-view mode you probably need to connect 2 wires from the harnass, but the only 2 wires we have is "key 1, steering wheel control learning" and "front camera power", we have also 1 wire coming from the RCA cable on both ends but i dont know what to do with those 2 wires. i hope you could help us get it working!

Getting that wire through the grommets was a pain in the a*#, which is why I gave up and just pulled it through and covered the wire with a hose/tube and it still looks great.

I discovered another way to get live and ground this unit. Go straight into the fuse box behind the glove compartment , you can then use a fuse tap and ground it right there

How can i upgrade my andriod system

I have installed mine and the camera powers off the reverse light, but it does not switch to it automatically. I have to still load the F-CAM app. Not a big deal, but would like it to auto switch. Can't find b any settings to allow the app to run on demand.

2003 330i here. There are 3 wires coming out of the reverse light. Brown, yellow-blue and yellow. I used quick splice: black to brown, red to yellow-blue. It didn't work. No display on the radio (Eonon 9150). Don't know should I splice the red to the yellow instead? I noticed your BMW has only 2 wires, brown and yellow-blue. After reading all the comments, it seems most people have the wiring problem, that there is no picture. Other BMW forums seems to have the same problem. But this DIY has 173,545 views; so I presume most of the people didn't have the problem a few of us encountered! Should I splice the red to the yellow instead? Is there any harm to the electrical system (and the camera, stereo head) if I do? Thanks always.

great video , very helpful but i have a problem ,when is switch to reverse and car headlights are on the rear cam start flickering and disturbed , if i turn off the lights it get better. any suggestions? camera harness has data-power and a little red wire ,data and power are connected is this issue caused by that red wire? thank you for your time and for any further advice.
