@@TeamBimmer help! Friend just got 2014 528i Says having trouble figuring out how to have door unlock when approaching vehicle, or when grabbing driver door handle without using fob, is this possible?

Clemente Noguera...I'm not sure how BMWs are set-up in your market area (if you're not in the USA)...but here, we have alarm sirens that produce not only the alarm, but the audible/acoustic alerts for lock/unlock (not the car's horn). You can see from approx 2:40 minutes into the video all the way to the end...there is a check box to select ACOUSTIC & VISUAL (FLASH) alerts for lock/unlock. Do you have this same set-up as in the video? If you do, then check off the box for whichever (or both) alert features.

As odd as it may seem, its not a feature that is programmed from the factory. You not going crazy, its truly not an option in the iDrive.

There is a central locking button by the hazard lights that controls the door locks. There is also a physical key integrated in the fob which could unlock/lock drivers side. If optioned on your car, comfort access would be another way. See out Comfort Access video for more info on that feature

@@TeamBimmer thanks. Unfortunately, our car doesn’t have comfort access. My routine, in non-BMW’s, is to open the driver’s door, press the door lock button, and exit the car. I haven’t been able to make that work with the 528i. When I press the center console lock button, it does not lock the doors.

Check if the child lock on that rear door is on, then try again

ok so its not possible on a 2017 330i. Is BMW stuck in some time warp? My 10 year old Jetta had this functionality. Anyway, is there a hack for this? ie. connect to your computer using a bmw specific cable? i.e. is there a VAG-COM for BMW?

Janab Sahib I believe aftermarket software or apps allows you to code "f" series BMWs to auto UNLOCK the doors. I've seen this coding option in the Bimmercode app software.

I’m assuming the vehicle has Comfort Access. Odd that it’s locking with the key on the interior, usually the lock/unlock features are not active (think of a random person running up to the car and being able to unlock your door when you come to a stop). Is it happening at home possibly? I’ve heard of instances where the spare key is kept in the house but the vehicle is close enough to the spare where it’s recognized and Comfort Access features still work.

Sounds like you need service. I’m not a mechanic but I am very familiar with settings and features and this doesn’t sound like a anything you mistakenly enabled. Sounds like a faulty part(s)

Some models can unlock when the vehicle is put into park. This feature didn’t come around (from the factory at least) until around 2016 with the G12 7 series. Most F chassis and older vehicles won’t have this feature though FYI

I see this happen when the key fob is being depressed in the pocket unknowingly. If the unlock button is pressed and held down, windows will roll down (within certain range). Check position of key in pocket or consider key cover for the fob

For NBT iDrive and newer, in the settings go to door locks and switch from ‘drivers door, to ‘all doors’. This will affect the comfort access (if equipped) and pressing unlock on the key fob with a single press

@@TeamBimmer I tried the all doors setting but it still won’t unlock, This problem started happening after I pressed the central lock button a few times idk if that did anything I feel like it went into almost an anti theft or some kind of lock? But I can’t seem to reset it it won’t unlock any door except drivers.

The first pull unlocks the door, the second pull opens it. If the doors remain unlocked it would only require one pull to open, but I understand many have a preference to drive with the doors locked so it may not be a great solution. Unfortunately, they didn’t solve this one until later model vehicles with the “Unlock at destination” setting which isn’t something that can be added on a vehicle (at least at the dealership)

Pressing and holding the desired preset button when something is highlighted is the way to save it. The two common errors I see are not highlighting the proper object when saving or drivers profiles. Beyond that, I would recommend visiting a local BMW Genius to diagnose the issue

The fuel filler flap door is secured whenever the car is in double-lock mode. Double-lock mode occurs when the vehicle is locked using the remote, or if you have comfort access and press the ridges on the door handle, or when a key is manually inserted into the exterior driver's door lock cylinder to lock the vehicle (the interior door handles are also deactivated in double-lock mode). When your BMW is locked any other way (manually pressing each individual door locking pin, or using the central locking button on the dash/center console, or if you have the auto-lock @ _ _ MPH activated) the vehicle is in SINGLE-LOCK mode and the interior door handles will work and the fuel filler flap door is NOT locked. So if you want to lock/secure the vehicle but NOT lock the fuel filler flap door...use one of the three aforementioned methods. :)

The sensor to unlock is integrated on the inside of the handle. The ridges on the topside of the handle are for locking specifically. Do be aware of the thumb of your left hand if unlocking the door, make sure not to touch those ridges as it can lock the doors

If you have an alarm, you can reset it by holding down the panic button. Before that, though, check your settings under doors setting - “acoustic sig when lock” (not avail for pre-LCI models)

If you can't open it from the inside, check the child lock setting on the door itself. If you're referring to opening from the outside, some models do not have comfort access capabilities on the rear doors (e.g. 3 series, 4 series GC, etc.). Other then that, I can't think of what other things it may be. May be a service issue.

+Jj Liu Last seat position automatic will adjust your seat and mirrors to the last position they where in when you were last in the car (profile specific). This happens when you unlock the car
