I owned an E46 325ci and now an E46 330ci. The difference is 40hp on paper and yes it is very noticeable.

I've owned a Benz c230, then a GTI 1.8T, and just got a 03 330ci. I can tell u one thing, the torque feels like a turbo!! I'm in love. And the sound the engine 😍😍

When my wife and I were looking at buying a "fun" car back in 2005, we test drove a used 325i with a manual gearbox. It was a decent car, but I felt it was lacking in the oomph department. That, and the gearshift knob kept popping off (I hadn't yet learned the BMW trick of giving it a sharp rap to seat it in the gearlever slot). A couple months later we came across a manual 2003 330ci at our local dealer. We test drove it and when I tried it out my first reaction was "this car feels perfect'. All the power shortcomings of the 325 were gone. The car had been a dealer "brass hat" demo for two years, so it only had about 5,000 miles on it. It is still in our garage, now with 71,000 miles, and I don't see us ever selling it.

I daily a stock e46 325xi. I’m 18 and still a pretty new driver and I’m not modding the car since it is still my dad’s. Honestly, though, it feels like it has a lot of power and pickup and even stock it’s a fun car to drive on the road.

The way you can tell how fun a BMW is in most BMW review videos are the boyish laughs with m4, m3, 330 and a few others. I just bought a 330ci last month and I love it.

I had a 2003 325i with cams and headers and a tune. It did 190hp on a mustang dyno at active 🙂 was amazing to drive with the 3.46

The MAF on my E46 328i is the exact same part from a Hyundai elantra V6 lol. The only difference is there's no BMW tax.

i love my 330ci. my first car was a e46 328i m52tu, and the m54 blew my mind!! Love this motor! these motors are meant to be unrestricted. its basically a detuned s54 motor even BMW has mentioned this its manufacturing era.

I did a 5 speed swap on my 330i auto so still got the 3.07 diff my mates got a 328ci with the 3.47 diff an your right his first gear is a waste of time.would love to put header on mine but is super hard to get RHD headers at a good price.

What really woke up my 330 was an M3 6 speed transmission and complete rearend.

I got an 01 330i auto for my first car then the head gasket blew then got a 325i manual and I love them both but I still find myself wanting the 330. Just overall feels way better i went 130mph and it felt like i was going 60 as far as smoothness and handling

I have 330ci e46 with SuperSprint headers + soft + full SuperSprint exhaust. 260 hp 335 Nm. Pretty good riding. I´am plannig to uprage to sport camshafts to gain another 10 hp.

I test drove a 325i and a 330i. The performance difference is MASSIVE. The torque kicks in way sooner than the 325i. Both cars are stock. I ended up buying the 330i. I thought about just buying a 2007 m3... But the guy selling the m3 was sketchy.

I had an E36 325i then bought an E46 330i. Like he said, the 325i is a very good car but the 330i is better. I've never had any problems with either of them and I'm very happy with my 330.

And so far not gonna lie I love the car. What sucks is auto matic lols need to convert it to manual and it’s a must. But definitely need to make this car lighter tho. Purchase a extra hood to experiment on a vent and dear lord this things are so freakin heavy when I pick them up on a local seller. 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️ Soon need to do sunroofdelete , stud conversion and other things to make this car lighter and fast bone stock motor. i have a 325i and a 330ci. I think the HP difference is noticeable but even the 330ci is slow compared to todays standards.

Great video, alot of people usually wonder between the two engines, if the 0.5 liter more is worth it. But I'm not gonna lie I doubt your header did anything if you didn't tune for it. Yeah they might make a tad more vaccum and help flow but nothing you would notice imo, specially since I'm not aware of you having a bigger intake charge. The mix of your rear gear ratio that wasn't factory on the 2.5L, the new engine torque curve and placebo effect of the noise is probably playing on you. I'm simply talking from experience, given I had multiple vehicules tuned before with Header/Downpipe and the Bolt on itself wasn't nothing crazy. The day you'll get it simply tuned though, you can easily await 15 to 20 HP gain even as an N/A engine without too much timing advance depending if you move from 89 to 91 or 89 to 94. I'd highly recommend an Intake if you do. Have yourself a great day T.H!

Crazy dude. Yea the MAF prices from BMW are up there with some other nuts pricing. Inner door seal for example (the piece of rubber that seals the door to the body of the car when it shuts)...you're looking at a ballpark of 300-500 depending on your model. 😊

I have a 330 and since i always drive in heavy traffic it almost always launches in 2nd without any trouble.

I was having all kinds of misfires and throttle issues. I ordered a maf of ebay and all my issues went away.

My e46wouldnt let me rev passed 4k rpm or eml would pop up spent hours and hundreds looking for engine leak or throttle body problems but turned out just to be maf

Is this the motor from a regular e46 330i or the ZHP 330i? I’ve read that the power on a regular 330i is up 40hp over the 325 but wasn’t sure if that was referring to the 330 or ZHP

Try cleaning up the sensor using CRC MAF sensor cleaner.. I had the same thing going on in with my 325xi sensor and cleaner just fixed it right away... next thing you will see with the bad MAF is weird shifting(on automatics)

But what i dont get is there is only a second in the 0 to 60 time between 325 and 330 so is it really noticable i know it more torque i aint trying be funny just wanted to know is it better to keep my 325ci or get the 330ci

You have some weird prices, because m54b30 maf costs around 20 -100 euros / usd .

Best engine for the e46 is the M52TUB28 "USA spec" with IRON BLOCK and no nikasil. That engine will run on cooking oil if needed. Did over 500 000 km no issues, pushing it hard. Rest of the car broke to pieces. Currently own a 2002 330ci, to be honest can´t feel those extra 40hp. Maybe at the top of the rev counter it has a bit more power. The 328i revved with more ease and felt more willing. Downshifting was a joy. I miss the engine. Should have kept the car and done an engine swap.

I have ebay headers installed a year and a half ago and wrapped with heat wraps. It cracked after a day of track. My car has not seen a track day so i guess the heat wrap retained the heat too well and the poor quality of ebay headers combined resulted in a crack in headerI would never buy an ebay header again..!With that said, have you ceramic coated or heat wrapped yor header?(I guess you didnt have any time to do that watching the road to time attack)If you havent, do you notice lots of heat in the engine bay?

I'm not a troll and I usually don't comment to be a smart-ass but man this engine only has one header

I just don't feel like looking it up now, but having owned the 2.5, 2.8, and 3.0: the 3.0 has about 50 ft/lbs more than the 2.5 and it's a significant difference coming out off the Apex kicking in from any RPM. The mid range is so much stronger. If your'e red lining the the three, the 2.8 is not that far behind the 3.0 0-60, and the 2.5 just over half a second (?). I would consider owning another 2.8: enough power, less oil consumption, gets to 300k miles. I would not buy another 2.5: same maintenance costs, slightly higher mpg, a dog with an automatic. Our family currently has six 3.0's, in case your'e wondering. Consider 3.2 and turbo models more expensive and complex rendering lower life span.
