BMW E46 Cog Warning Light Re-Set

This video is uploaded for a thread on the BMW E46 Owners forum on facebook. Sometimes when I first switch on my BMW E46 I get the cog warning light come on. The car is then in 'limp home' mode. To re-set it and get the engine to go back to normal I just turn the ignition off and back on.

Its the fuse 30 in the fuse box under the hood disconnect the egs put a new fuse in than plug the egs back solved 👌

Its do do with transmission ranger sensor

sir can u do a tutorial ? help me plss i have this problem when i put in D mode the cog will appear but when i use sportmode then my car is fine why 😭

I had that issue just last Friday, cog warning lit and smelt burning fluid or something...that's after a 35km drive. Turned off, everthing went back to normal, no light error, and car drove normally again. Haven't tried it again since i delivered it for detailing. Any suggestion as to what precaution I need to do when I drive it back home?

I know this a very late reply after 7 months but I think u should have checked oil level ..I hope ur transmission is still working

That’s not a permanent fix though, I have the same problem and my gearbox is fine, goes through all the gears as it should etc etc but the light keeps appearing intermittently, I want to know if there’s an easy reset or does it need to be addressed professionally

@@harithsyahmi1016 Change the fuse 30 in your fusebox. Location might be top right corner but check your fuse map. Fuse 30 is either broken or your select sensor is broken. Get a new fuse and if the cog light wont go away then its the selec sensor
