the new lenses on these xenon lights were hella expensive! Over $120 each for oem, $70 for aftermarket

Got a 20€ polishing kit, 15€ for sanding discs. Thanks for your guide, my 17-year-old headlights were in original condition and now they look a thousand times better! I sanded with 240p, 400p, 800p, 1200p and perhaps 2000p (not sure of the last one). Highly recommend this, really made my e46 look much younger. Also, this takes only like 1-1.5h if you are not as perfectionist as the author.

that bottom trim comes off super easy as well... saves you from fiddling with the tape.

my lenses cost me $45 and they are great, glad you went ahead and bought new ones itll look just as good with the clear side markers

the last step I just figured out after years, is to apply Meguiars G17804 Keep Clear Headlight Coating , $9.00 and does about 10-15 applications.

you can pop that trim off under the headlight. its held in by one push tab on the grill side, and several alignment tabs along the bottom and on the fender side. saves the taping.

Great job, now I can go ahead and do mine on my E46, long overdue for my headlight lenses.

Can't buy lenses for the e90 & my wife's are, or were, very bad. For some reason they were much worse than my older e46 cars. I finally tried out this restoration. Was apprehensive because of the sanding. But I got over it & they look pretty good. Thanks Kid.

i paid 18 for new lens on amazon and it perfectly fits and works fine still after 6 months!!

Use a damp cloth in between sanding. Gets the dust off better and gives you a better view of deep scratches. And be carefull with gird below 320, you will get deep scratches that will take you a long time to fix.

I have used zippo fluid and a old sock to clean my up and the looked brand new when i was done

your car is pre-facelift. you can pop the plastic lenses off the front of the headlight assembly without baking it. and polish out the inner surface to get rid of the burn marks. also. the clearcoat step is far better than wax. Did this to an old Kia 6 years ago and it still looks like new with the clearcoat. It was actually a spray can of clear specifically sold for coating headlights and taillights. forgot that it was called, but it can probably be found on amazon easily.

To make perfect headlight you need to.To disassemble the headlight.Polish the lenses inside and out.Install morimoto mini projectors.Paint the inside plastic parts in black.

I have problem with my m54 engine which is running RICH , I have got new 4 O2 sensors wich are befor and after catalytic converter and new sparkplugs and feul pump and feul filter , i still have the same problem ? 228 bank 2 and 227 bank 1 at the same time, we have tasted the MAF and my car dont have vacuum leak ? any idea please ?

for a $20 sylvania headlight restoration kit, it will look like your clear corner lights, I used 3M before and it doesn't last.. that's lots of work and expensive too (compound and wax)..

Hi. Do you know if I can find/get new lenses for the X3? Ive searched but havent found, but Ive read sometime back that there is but not sure. I bought new lenses for my E46 when I had that car. Reason I want to change is that one lense has a crack so its leaking water when I use the power washer.

Anyone know where to get the Euro-spec tail lights (red-clear-red) to replace the red-yellow-red NA version? My 2 cents: I think the OEM (front) yellow signals look better. BMW spent time to make them look nice and the black border makes for smooth transition. The clear-lens signals look cheap and don't match the OEM headlights which takes away from the classy look. *2005 325i*

You can remove the lens on these, would have been easier to polish on the bench and safer for the paintwork. You wouldn't have needed to tape up either.

Nice. There was a time (when I was detailing) that I woulda charged $30 a headlight for this. Now itʻs hella easy and available to anyone who can, you know, KZfaq. And why not? Take an hour, spend some QT with your car. Itʻll repay you ten fold.

dude, for only a little bit more, you can just put in brand new lenses since theyre removable on most e46s

Sorry for asking., your e46 is xenon headlamp, my e46 is not a xenon lamp,, my cover lamp is plastic.,, your cover from plastic or glass.,?? Sorry for my English.,, 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 one more thing more easy if u open the cover & polishing on ur lap.. 🙏🏻
