Why did you say "thanks goodness" for the M54? Legit question as I`m from Europe, so most of the E60s are disel or 525/530i. So you would choose e60 with m54? Why not N54? I have intention to buy e60 so I would appreciate the info.

M54 vs N52 basically. both great engines but M54 is a much easier beast to keep on top of reliably. N54s are wonderfully strong engines but they're an absolute nightmare to run.

Hi buddy I have this engine in my E30 would you recommend BOSCH or BREMI coil packs? E30 misfiring too frequently now need coil packs replaced thanks in advance

they're both OEM for these engines, the pencil coils anyways. Bremi is what I'd go with. I've had 1 year old bosch coils crap out.

Ovalbore Thanks for prompt reply I was about to grab BOSCH ones tomorrow but will now go with BREMI. Just a footnote I've got 2001 date stamped on my original coils does this indicate these have never been replaced in the life of the engine?

if your coils are stamped, they're not Pencil coils like this car (2002.5-2006). you've got the M52TU/early M54 coils. you do want Bremi coils, but on those they rarely if ever fail no matter what make you use.. you can use any coil 96-2002 in theory from any M52 or M52TU as well.

So you don't need to remove the fan nor the shroud if you want to do the thermostat only? That's great news.
