Mine just failed on my 2011 550i. Ugh. I’m wondering what causes them to fail…I’m gonna order the replacement but see if I can pull the old one apart Thank you for the video, appreciate your hard work.

@@JohnsonMotorsports one thing I did notice so far is that it makes my comfort access wig out. I can’t leave my keys in the car or in the morning the computer will have shut itself down for excessive draw And what it is, is that because the actuator is failed and can’t unlock the comfort access just keeps trying over and over again it’s weird AF

Is the front passenger lock the same as the rear? I have a similar issue with both front and rear passenger side on my 2013 F10 with part#: Front: 51217202146 & Rear: 51227202148. But when received, they are the same with different part numbers. Please confirm. Thanks

I did this on the driver door sometime last year…now my comfort access unlock pad on the outside of that door has stopped working, so now I get to try to tackle that.

My driver side soft closing door is making a grinding noise, have u heard about just replacing the soft closing door fuse to eliminate the noise?

No, that will just turn off the soft close sore functionality. You would have to replace the actuator to eliminate the noise and still have the feature.

Hi I’m have problem with my 2011 f10 passenger door will not lock. I have soft close and comfort access. Was looking on Amazon they have the actuator by it self and Door lock actuator soft close do I just need the actuator only or need one with soft close. Thanks

You will need the actuator with soft close if you want to retain this function.

I bought my screen from RVG Performance. You can DM them on IG. I believe the brand is Kantor. I try to get to a review video. I did a small review on the screen on one of my Mods videos.

Quite a struggle with the rod, plus you should really make sure that the butyl rope is properly glued back (hairdryer, heat gun...), otherwise you risk water ingress!

Yeah. If I recall correctly, you have to remove the accent panel to remove a bolt that holds the door panel on.

Seems like you only replace the door lock, so the soft close mechanism is independent from the door lock actuator?

I don’t have soft close doors. I believe the components would be separate.

Actually, I bought mine from a local member for $150. Had to have some repairs done and refinish them.

Not really, you just have to remove 3 nuts to pull the attached soft close motor as well.

Have you tried opening the rear door from inside the car? I’m certain it won’t open. From what I see at 9:41 you did not connect the rear door handle bowden cable correctly.

Yeah, the door opens fine. That was almost year ago when I replaced that door actuator and I have since upgraded to soft close doors.

If the car doesn't have soft close, can you use soft close actuators to gain that feature?

Nice. My driver's side will only lock and unlock with the key. So I'm assuming this should fix it.

Please, could you expand on that that lock bar? What's the problem? I have comfort access and will need to replace the front passenger side. Need the part number on that for a 2013 F10.

@@LuisManuel30096 The lock bar is only on the driver's door. It connects the key cylinder to the Actuator.
