There will be a version for the 120Ah i3 as well. If I need to change the design I will do it.

It is not made of stainless steel anymore. But nobody watches the video of the new GRP version :-) I know about the space under the back seats. The issue is: If you have the Harman Kardon Sound system then the amplifier is there as well and it really heats up the whole area. So you have always heated cupholders in the back

Hi Jakob. The trunk extension can be used with i3s that have the heat pump option. The heat pump itself is nothing but the AC-compressor and it is located a little left in front of the electric motor if i remember correctly. The reason why it cannot be ordered with the REX is that the evaporation chamber is built in the space where the fuel tank of the REX models is located. My first i3 had the heat pump and I used the trunk extension as well ;-)

Hi Rodriguez. I am using these trunk extension for about 3 years in total now. Never had any issues with noises or rattling. The new version is made of GRP. Will post a new a new product video in the next weeks.

BMW missed that opportunity so I took over. But I cannot invest several 100k€ into such a injection molding tool. This would only make sense if I was directly supplying BMW production for all 30k i3s they are producing per year.

I have already recorded a new video with the new version. But this one is widely linked and the new video is only for the installation. The price actually improved a lot with the new ABS version.

It is not necessary. Sound dampening is installed on the bottom of the trunk bottom plate ;-)

There is a box for the BMW i3 available. You need to mount something like a towing hook on the back and on top of that you mount the storage box. I installed a trunk extension in an i3 that had this option but I don't have a link at hand.

The metal is not a problem. The REX or all other parts back there are made out of metal as well so... Due to the dimensions of the trunk extension it is hard to find a way of producing it without enormous tool costs which would have killed the ideo. Maybe I find a better solution. Stay tuned ;-)

you do have or you don't have the Rex? If you don't have the Rex then you can use the trunk extension.

Hmm, sorry but I do not agree. If snow, rain and dirt have access to the compartment everything will remain wet. The solution I am working on will not be air tight so the stuff should still dry but it should prevent this unwelcome visitors by about 99%. Sorry for taking so long but this is kind of tricky to realize.

Absolutely, there are ways to let air in/out while keeping the water out. Otherwise we‘d all drown in our cars on a rainy day. :-)

@@thelining4078 The lid should at least be water-tight. Air can be allowed in from the bottom, which would also allow any water that accidentally got in there to drain out. I'm sure my car's trunk can be sprayed with water, snow or dirt and not allow any to enter the trunk space, so it is at least possible.

Tut mir leid, aber in Kleinserie sind solche Preise nicht zu realisieren. Kleine Referenz: Wer sich für den originalen Kennzeichenhalter von BMW interessiert: Einfach mal nach "BMW 51497167548" googeln. Das Teil habe ich vor 4 Jahren noch für 1,44€ kaufen können. Danach sollte sich jede weitere Anmerkung zum Thema Preis erübrigen ;-)
