How to perform GPS navigation maps update in #BMW with iDrive system (CIC, NBT, NBT-Evo; Business and Professional) though USB port in the glovebox of your BMW car. In this video I'm showing it in BMW E84 X1 with CIC Business navigation and MOTION set of maps.
#Update requires:
- BMW car with iDrive CIC, NBT or NBT-Evo system.
- USB drive with new map for your iDrive system.
- FSC activation key code for your car/map combination.
- about 40 minutes of your time.
After connecting the USB drive with update package, you will see a notification on your navigation screen. Next you will be asked to enter FSC activation key code. You can buy the code proving your VIN and maps that you want to install. Or you can generate this code yourself with a free software linked below. After that update procedure should start. In some rare cases (like in this E84) procedure was going forward only if the car was moving. As soon as the car stopped, procedure was paused. Then it was resumed automatically when car was on the move again.
While the update is performed you can already use new maps streamed from the USB drive directly. Update will proceed in background and new maps are already visible on the screen.
When copying is done, navigation will reboot. You can now remove the USB drive and use updated navigation database.
