BMW Isetta without chassis. Repair and renovation of Spot-On model no. 118.

The Spot-On company had been producing the BMW Isetta die-cast model since 1959. At that time, in Europe, small-capacity cars, the so-called Bubble Cars were very popular. I received this model from a friend in Portland. It was very incomplete. It had no chassis at all. In this video I show how you can bring the body back to life, which thanks to the reconstruction can please the eye. I also made the packaging based on Spot-on's graphics, and on the box I placed my model, which was painted in the colors of the original car restored in the Dealers Wheelers TV series about restoring real cars. Thank you for watching the video, I publish car repair videos on Tuesdays and Saturdays. You can turn on subtitles in Polish with commentary on the activities in the video.

Congratulations - lovely to see this model brought back to life. As a young teenager in the 1950s one of our neighbours bought one of these - the three wheel version; later they changed it for the four wheeled model - if my memory serves me right, they were both red.

Fantastic restoration. Just to let you know that the part you did in silver on both sides below the window is actually a flashing indicator turn signal. The whole of the front of the car is the door which hinges on one side, the steering column and wheel hinges as well as its fixed to the door. I remember seeing one in purple when i was a small boy. I wondered what on earth it was!!!

Possibly the most insane restoration so far? I know you usually like to buy parts one by one at flea markets until you are able to put them together into complete models, but with cars as rare as this, the chances of ever finding a chassis and interior would be close to zero, so this would be the only way to restore it, but damn, that was a lot of work. Very impressive result, though.

Jesteś niesamowicie uzdolnionym artystą (tak, dla mnie to co robisz jest prawdziwą sztuką). Aż trudno uwierzyć, jak wiele serca, pracy i staranności wkładasz w każdy z projektów. Odtworzenie podwozia z kawałka blachy i dopasowanie jej do karoserii to coś, co przerosłoby niejednego zwykłego warsztatowca, a Ty poradziłeś sobie z tym wyśmienicie. Nie mówiąc już o tych wszystkich dodatkach, wykończeniu. Majstersztyk! Po prostu chylę czoła. Naprawdę zasługujesz na dużo większe rozpoznanie, nie tylko w Polsce, ale na całym świecie.

Nice restoration Paul it bought back memories for me, my first vehicle in the UK was a 61 red isetta which I painted light blue. The main advantage with this little car was that you could drive the three wheeler at age sixteen so off I went. Also the road tax was cheaper.This backfired on me later I past my driving test in it first time only to find out that three years later if you passed your test in one you had to retest for a motor car or your motorcycle. Yet if you had either licence you could drive a three wheeler. Government and logic not synonymous. We did many miles in it until child number two arrived and we moved up to an A-35 van with rear seats, Luxury

C'est plus une reconstruction qu'une réparation, vu le peu d'éléments qu'il y avait au début ! Et c'est toujours aussi satisfaisant et zen à regarder. Par contre ça m'étonnerait beaucoup que les Isetta, quelque soit leur marque, aient été surnommées « Bubble cars » ailleurs qu'aux États-Unis (et éventuellement au Royaume-Uni), la mondialisation n'était pas encore passée par là , on n'utilisait pas des anglicismes partout. En France, c'était plutôt « pot de yaourt » si mes souvenirs sont exacts.
