Disagree. I owned about 20 six inlines from BMW. Defenitely a great engine. But now i bought the F40 M135i. I really love it. The looks are so much better than the previous 1-series. Also the interior is so much better and modern. I like the x-drive and don't miss the rear wheel drive. I love the new 1-series.

I test drove one and loved it. BMW's take on the Golf R but with more tech and a better driving position. TBH we've never had it so good. Lots of well built 300 hp AWD cars to choose from, they won't rust or break and you can drive for hours in comfort. I remember when Ford sold cars with an odometer that would only reach 99k, cause they would'nt last that long! The rust would eat them alive and the enginges would throw a rod at 80k. I had a '88 Fiesta XR2 and I have fond memories of it but essentially it was a terrible car, only 7 years old when it succumed to the red rot and had to be scrapped, not to mention leathal in a crash. Yea this M135i might not be the most exiting car to hustle down a twisty B road but if thats your bag get a Type R, of even a Lotus. I am really enjoying the car industry's output right now because very soon we'll all be humming around in an EV.

Ciro, I just have to say your car reviews are very superior to many reviewers out there as you combine informative with entertainment as well as throwing in some jokes here in there! Plus the camera work is phenominal !

Sports cars are dying. Cars used to have good engines and had a decent amount of torque. Now theyre all being watered down with these ass 4 cylinders. They all sound terrible. The gas mileage argument doesnt even make sense like if youre concerned so much about that than get a civic you shouldnt be driving a sports car.

Imagine living with this car, every car’s and coffee, every owner’s meeting you go all you do is defend your dignity and constantly convince to yourself you made the right car choice. Miserable.

Agree with the loss of a six cylinder power plant. However, new 1 series is really well put together and much more matured. The old 1 series just felt cheap.

Honestly i see nothing wrong with the 1 series, if u have the cash buying new or old one either way u will be happy, sometimes we listen to car journalist way too much, i went to check it out myself and the car is brilliant and proper, and bmw explained all the reasons behind all the changes and it makes sense.

So sad to see where the world is going. BMW has lost it's DNA.

We have reached the end ladies and gentlemen. The end of the era. Not just the 1 series haha but cars in general, we're moving into seasons of hybrids and EVs and when it comes to hot hatches, makes wanna make something that's an all rounder, or adapt themselves to making an all rounder, like the 1 series or GTI and unlike the golf R and the RS3. I'm saying that I wouldn't be surprised if the gti and s3 gets the 1 series treatment. just a top of the range version of its normal car and left it like that. They do this because they are starting not to care anymore and moving into bigger things. I wouldn't be surprised if the makes that make these kind of hot hatches don't get a lot of sales like they would get 5 years ago, I wouldn't 🙌🏽

You've made the case for a full M car version the line and the reason I love my 3 door Melbourne red 2019 m140i 🤩

Strange that a 4 cylinder sounding er 4 cylindery, come on, its progress young man they will make a 140i soon, enthusiastic drivers can't use there cars in the modern world anyway its just full up with people on the move and police speed traps. i have had the m140i and look forward to getting one of these they seem much safer.

2:05 exactly, what makes it special? I don't think people who wants 1 series care much for 2inch morr of rear space, or 50l of boot, they want something which is different in this segment, and that was the old BMW series 1, rear while drive 6 cylnder 3l, lot of fun

We love and drive BMW because it supposed to be unique and make you stand out from the rest of the front wheel brigade, but with this M135i you are no different from someone in S3/Golf R or A35. But they probably hv their reasons why they did this.

My first car was also an E30 320i, only an auto... really slow but sounded so good! Long story short.. I’ve gone back to old school, with something powered by an E46 m3 engine.... :)

Awesome car, it has grown on me go honestly but the fact that you can see the exhaust muffler still bothers me 🤣.

For the same money get a demo M240i and stick on the M-performance exhaust. I did that and haven't looked back.

A Golf R has 228kw @ R727 400, the 135i has 225kw @ R769 752. To spec the 135i to the equivalent R standard specs will set you back R833 452.

You guys keep comparing the new 1 series against the old one. As if every single car has to be a derivative of its previous cars? What kak. Not everyone wants to go on a track and have the back out.

For that kind of money, you'd be better off walking across the lot and buying a R100 000 cheaper Mini Cooper JCW - better bang for your buck!

All car reviewers are just going to have to get used to the fact that all forms of “pollution”, be it environmental or noise, coming out of cars will no longer be tolerated in the not too distant future.

I really like the new m135i. I think its fantastic. Maybe it needs a remus exhaust with downpipe

It's a 135i, its never been a 6cylinder,its not a 140i, its a 135i.

Great review. My only issue is that you talk really really slowly. So I watch this video at 1.5X speed but then the engine note in distorted. Kind of a catch 22. I keep switching speeds

The sound is not enough because it needs two more cyclinders that's what's missing.

I don't understand the review. You go to say you can't go fast in a country road because you get stuck behind slow moving vehicle. How would it being 6 cylinder or rear wheel drive change that? In fact if anything you'll be much better off overtaking in an awd as you'll get your power down more efficiently in most weather conditions.

Heres a pro tip, make your videos 65% talking and review then the 35% should be the exhaust. Cause really the audience thats buying these cars only and mostly cars about the sound.

For me the front of the the exterior looks good, the rear looks so awkward to me and I find it looking cheap like Datsun go with 2 pipes. I must say I like the interior but it’s still way behind that of A class.
