BMW MINI instrument change colour

Just a video of swapping the back light coulours to something a little more interesting for a trade show - as the cluster would be just powered up flashing its lights no more, we have already robbed parts from this instrument to make other customers units functional again so this ones just scrap - also had to replace the LCD driver on this one to make the odometer go again - another video..

any idea where to get the leds from, could you kindly share the shopping list, I'm ready to have a go myself but not sure on best leds

Any idea why my tach and speedometer isnt back lighting on my R56 (2012) Thanks! All back lighting works inside the car, ambient lighting, interior lights etc. The high beams doesnt work if i push them forward either. Please help..thanks. They all worked before we had the wiring done to fix the CanBus. One wire was cut in half, which is why our air conditioning stopped working. It works now after repaired, but our tach and speedometer back lighting stopped working. Any Ideas? Thanks!

Are the heater controls LEDS too? I have one that I have to tap to get it to come on sometimes.

You think you could make one with all blue lights for me? Except the abs sensor stuff, those can remain their original color.

Hi there, Just what I was looking for.. a great video, makes me somewhat nervous. .in your working environment, but like you say it's a spare unit. I so dislike my orange instrument colour, so I plan to change them all over to white.. wondering what type of LED's to get. Are these dimmable?.. the ones you replaced. Or are they automatically dimmable thanks to the led driver already fitted on the pcb. You state.. the green LED's are the same.. as they have the same footprint!! Is it as technical as it gets..the same footprint! in me getting the correct ones..in white. Any advice would be great I have a 05 R52 convertible. With dual instrumentation. ..on the steering wheel as I have the BMW satnav.. where the usual centre dial would normally go. Any advise would be welcomed.. also.. If I remove the instrumentation dual dials.. will I still be able to start and drive my car? Without the dials being fitted. As I shall do this mod over an evening or 3.

Hi there, :0) Understood re dimmable leds. So can you please advise.. as I am not sure where to look in finding out the correct type of leds to my project. I have removed my center roof light unit see photo. I have the white bulbs.. I am wishing to replace all orange back light SMD leds on my cooper s R52. There are from what I can tell 2 types of smd LEDs I need to replace on the pcbs and and 1 type led with legs in the roof headlining lighting 1. multiple smd leds are used as a back light display! All over the pcbs 2. Aslo Side mounted orange leds.. these shine down onto the gear stick area. Also is the wire legs type.. see atached photo. Can you possibly point me in the right direction for to identify these 3 types of leds And any other led replacements I might need to complete a 100% swap from Orange glow to white LED.

i jim yes all LEDs are dimmable as they are just PWM controlled , 3528 Size of LED would be best (:

Get Electronic ..hey there. Yes I have sourced the 3528 smd led type many thanks. But the other 2 types of LED? Any ideas. I have tried to link a photo to show but for some reason I am unable too. The the other larger led found on the toggle switch pcb is a side mounted led and bigger than the 3528 type. And on the above interior lighting unit these havr a standard led with wire legs..both these give a downward orange glow onto the centre console. Any ideas would be so useful and much appreciated. Jim

And what current/voltage are they? Those LEDs range from 2mA to 20mA and from 1.8V to 3.3V
