Small explanation on how to fix this fault codes if they appear after fitting a new timing chain kit with guides and tensioner hope it helps

The first time I used the tensioner tool and ended up with a 2DA0 code error. After watching your video and following the instructions on my second try i had no errors. I can't thank you enough!

This is brilliant. I didn't understand the logic the first time I watched your video but came back to it at a later time. I was thinking there was some sort of keying on the vanos gears (a keyway, flatside, square stud, etc) that orientated the gear with the camshaft. Basically, with the cam and crank locks in place, your timing orientation is locked in. Then you install the tensioner (not the pre-tension tool). The pressure of the tensioner makes the vanos gears slip around on their bolts so that when you tighten them down, they are in the correct orientation for the timing you have locked in place with the cam/crank locking tools. Thanks so much! The alternative was buying and almost unfind-able, several hundred dollar torque wrench that goes down to 5in-lbs.

When you were installed the timing chain tensioner did you tighten it all the way down? Or make it finger tight to adjust the chain tension before torquing the vanos units down fully?

Very much appreciated, I've had those cams out twice and have been tightening the hell out of the tool by mistake thinking slack was bad. Came across this and wanted to punch myself in the face. Thank you for the info so much!

Did you check your timing by trying to put the locking tools back on ? If so, did they fit or no ?

Hi there, I have watched your video, but I just have a question, so for my f20 116i with the n13 engine, I’ve got the code 130F20 which is the Exhaust Camshaft, angular offset to crankshaft outside tolerance, meaning my timing is off, so how would I go about getting to tdc and locking my flywheel, and at the same time, make sure my camshafts are in the correct angle if the exhaust camshaf is currently off, or does that mean I can still get to tdc and lock the flywheel as usual ?

I actually had the same problems timing mini motors but I had Poor luck using the timing tensioner. I only use the dummy tensioner now at the right torque. Using the dummy tensioner and the right torque what ultimately what I had to do to set timing for the Cooper S

My MiNi Cooper R60 having 2DA2 2C58 when engine slow. Exhaust vanos gear and Exhaust vanos solenoid and timing tensioner already changed but still having the same issue. Any idea what is going on ?

P1338 2DA0 2C58 I start the car and after 2 km an error appears while if the car is warm I can travel without problems. It happened to you too. Hi video is in great detail but still having the same code come back after coming into boost the codes that keep coming back any other ideas also changed both cam shaft solonoids aswell. Hope to here back from you soon kind regards josh 2c58 charging pressure control, switch off: pressure build up blocked 2da0 inlet camshaft: angle offset with respect to crankshaft outside tolerance

Hi there so what I think is happening is your timing is out on the vanos units and this is putting the engine light on. Watch my video again and it should help you thanks

Hi there yes the vanos unit wouldn't activate as it was out of its range so Ie the cam timing was out look for codes for the vanos unit

@@lathamsrestoration3178 I've just made exactly the same mistake. Inlet cam was retarded due to over tightening pretensioner. My fault code says exhaust cam over advanced. I think this might be because the sensors have measured the exhaust cam to be advanced compared to the inlet. With the sprocket locked, and cam tight on sprocket, were you able to rotate the cam with a spanner by the amount it is controlled by the Vanos? I'm trying to figure out a test for the Vanos movement.

This is what mine is doing, and i had my time chain done less than 2 years ago. The mechanic did u It wrong and wont stand behind it. Im screwed, to have to pay for that again.
