Ok guys so please keep in mind this video is a SUPPLEMENT of what needs to be done to do this job and I try to provide the MISSING parts the other videos DONT show you. You still NEED to watch those videos from AGA and others to see a semi full process. Most of which are partial because its impossible to do this tedious job while holding a camera. After watching those videos I was still so confused by the parts left out I lost days of my life trying to figure it all out and felt maybe you could benefit from my pain. Yes the video is kinda blurry and hard to see but with a phone to record and the worlds most tedious job, you will soon understand why that is.
Keep in mind the dealer wants between $12k-$20k to do this job which is totally insane. you can purchase the tools for $1000 or rent them for under $300 and a few days and do it yourself.

Great video, I have to do this to my 08 x5 4.8i sport. Changed out CCV. No change. Still smoking. I can’t justify spending $1,000. The GST is for me. I’m going to do a KZfaq video my self. Thanks again.

Its not fun but after you go through the engine and fix all the "rubbers" the car will run for at least another 100k

Great video, I’m purchasing GST next month. I can’t see spending AGA money if GST does the same thing SMH. I only have 114,000 miles on my 08 x5 sport. I’m going to keep it.

how did you do the velve seal on cylender 5?(passenger side velve closest to the back of the engine) its so hard to see back there let alone to see if the crows foot tool is on the top of the velve spring to compress it. any tips on how you did it? only idea i have is to use a small mirror to see back there ? any tips would help thanks.

Wanted to say thank you this was a great help. I also bought gst tool. I do have one problem and wondered if you saw this. My intake valves seal and have pressure with leak down, but once I reinstall rocker the valve leaks no pressure with leak down tester. My exhaust valves seem to seal fine after rocker install.

It sounds like it may not be fully stroked or at tdc. I wouldnt worry about it if everything is seated correctly. I even quit using the leak tester because as long as you have that cylinder at tdc it cant fall in. Plus you can twist the "crows foot" tool to help hold it in place.

@@EngineInformant Thanks for reply. It ended up that my lifters needed to bleed down. The next day all was well.

Had same issue, even on some exhaust. Annoying. At first i turned the motor a few time to compress them again. Then i started leaving the rockers off until all seals were replaced on that cylinder, then went back and installed the rockers.

it is very hard to test compression on these motors due to variable valve timing. So there is no base number i can really give you however if the cylinders are all with in 5-10% of each other you should be good

Any tips for rear intake valves on cylinders 4 and 8? I mean, wtf? Can't see anything! Do you need to pull the intake manifold? Remove the hood? Work from the side, or even the opposite side? Remove that intermediate roller thingy that connects primary and valvetronic shafts? Thinking about using some sort of camera and monitor setup.

if I remember correctly there is a removeable cover under the windshield wipers above firewall. i learned this afterwards unfortunately

@@EngineInformant if it's under the wipers not sure how it would help? You have the back of the head, the firewall, then the spring compressor tool. All in the fn way. Right now i have an old boroscope thing hooked up to a monitor and will try that. At least I can see, but not sure how I'll get the locks back in. How did you do yours? Did you remove that roller assembly that sits between the primary cam and valvetronic cam? On other valves removing that seems to make things easier, but on that back one... the cradle casting has ot mostly covered up. Not sure if I take it out I could get it back in. Hate when that happens.

@@garygatten1154 it's tight but it is accessible. Again removing the cover above firewall makes it much easier to get to the angle you need. Also my tool kit may have been different from yours.

Jhoan Jimenez no idea i had it in manual for b44 but not sure where i put it. It losts all torque specs though. Google.

So if cylinder is up at TDC valve should not be able to call down?

Jhoan Jimenez first time 50 hours motor in car 2nd time 24 hours. About 9 hours out of car
