Hab viel Freude.Grüße aus der Jägermeister -Stadt Wolfenbüttel.

I hope it all goes well from now on. By the sounds of it you will have one of the best R100CS once finished. Re the buckled wheels, the BMW dealer I bought my R100RS from in the 80's buckled my wheel when changing tyres. A 2nd dealer helped me and showed me the damage they had also done to the inside of the rim with the tyre levers. I suspect these BMW wheels have to be treated with care. Looking forward to more updates. 👍
@WildlifeMoto

Hi Walt. It’s very likely that this happened with these rims. Apparently the alloy on these wheels is pretty soft. Hopefully they can be straightened out. Thanks for watching.

The bikes going to look awesome, I’m a year into a restoration project of a 1978 kawasaki z900 hoping to have it done by June, I underestimated the cost of a full and bolt restoration but I’m loving the process, once you start stripping the bike you find assorts of horror stories.

Hi Ian. That Z900 is my dream bike! My approach is, do it right, do it once (not that it always goes that way). Good luck for the rest of the build. Fingers crossed you’ve discovered the main gremlins by now.

It's gonna look great I know just how it feels with the painted in whilst fitted , I have an engine that has been done like that 🤢note taken on the chrome firm it's not that far from me so will be using at some point for sure very interesting glad it coming together nicely .👌👍
@WildlifeMoto

I guess at some point this was just treated as a cheap run around. Someone even tried to paint the frame with the engine still in it. They could only paint 3/4 of most of the bars, so the paint just flaked off in most places. Mike at RS Chrome, great guy and top work.

Hi, if you don't mind me asking how much did you pay for the bike. I'm asking as I've seen one locally for sale and am wondering if it's worth the investment? No problem if you don't want to say, really enjoying your attention to detail.
@WildlifeMoto
@WildlifeMoto Жыл бұрын
Sure. I paid around £4K for the bike. I probably paid slightly on the high side as the mileage was low and it’s a “rare” CS.

I have the same thing, the tank cap, the telelever wishbone, the tipple tree, the valve covers ... all painted on the spot ... with a brush. You don't even need to use sandpaper for the valve covers, you can just pick it up with your hands, kinda. Now i have the wishbone of a R1150 Rockster, awesome piece. Are you going to show how the steeringdampers works? 6:30 halfway in the 90ties they started anodizing bore of the Master brake cyl and it's a 400+€ part. 25 ukp? i payed 85€ for the "plunger".
@WildlifeMoto
@WildlifeMoto Жыл бұрын
I think a lot of these bikes have been heavy abused over the last decade or so. For a long time they were just cheap and reliable transport and were treated as such. I will made a video on the damper when I get to reinstalling it. It’s a fairly basic set up.
@AnalogDude_

@@WildlifeMoto Thnx, Recently checked prices in Germany, you gotta drop at least 4000€ for them, that's where it starts for R100. After seeing this video, I checked a salvage yard for R100 wheels, found only 2 rear wheels. Some seems to use the wheels of the first series K100 8v on the R100. they are pretty cool. Mine spend most of it's time in a garage and it's officially documented. although has some minor road gravel damage on the paint and insect damage on the front fork, wind shield.

Yet another ace WM vid!! Are you going to replace or repair the wonky wheels Mr WM?
@WildlifeMoto
@WildlifeMoto Жыл бұрын
Thank you. I’m not sure at the moment. A second hand set in good condition will cost around £380, and I might be able to get them straightened out for around £100 per wheel. Some people have suggested just heating them up and bashing them back to shape, but I can’t see how you’d do the job properly with out a jig.
@Gambo916
@Gambo916 Жыл бұрын
@@WildlifeMoto FWIW, IMHO for the extra £180 price difference I'd prefer to have the peace of mind of riding on an undamaged replacement set of wheels and be sure in the knowledge that everything is perfect and as it should be. Others may argue that having them professionally straightened will be ok....and that might be true, but I know from my previous time as a Class I and II motorcycle MOT tester that alloy wheels which have been repaired is a reason for rejection/MOT failure.....although just how an MOT tester is supposed to know they've been repaired is another matter!!
