Loved the old school combination spanners and Allen/Torx keys rather than impact driver/ratchet spanners. Even bearing placement using socket as a drift was interesting over using/sourcing a fly press. Those are skills that are lost in this current World because we live in the days of the gig economy where people are called tradesmen because they wear hi-vis. Thank you Steven. Loved visiting your Country twenty odd years ago... Safe travels mate, may the road rise with you...

Hi, thankyou! As far as I am concerned a socket is the right tool for that job 😁. Yeh sometimes you have to make do with what you have to hand. I do have those other tools in my big workshop but this was just a small garage job that escalated! Ah yes Northern Ireland is a lovely country if only we had your sunshine!

Hi Steve which engine oil did you use? Which gear box oil did you use? The shaft oil is the same as the gearbox one if not which one did you use? How do you know how much oil to put in the gear box and the shaft? Sorry about so many questions but I don't have much experience. Thanks

Hey! If my memory serves me right I used 75/80 GL5 gear oil. Possibly semi synthetic. GL5 is required for the gears in the final drive. You basically just fill them up until the oil comes back out the filler hole. I used the same oil for both box and final drive. Hope this helps!

I have the same exact GS. Thank You for making this Video. I really learned a Lot. Is the Transmission Oil, the same as the Final Drive Oil?

No problem always good to help others. Yeh I used the same oil, just make sure its GL5 rated. I think you can use a slightly heavier oil if you want aswell.

Thanks! Not entirely sure but I think it's a GIVI system. The top box is nice it fits the look of the bike but the paniers are just plain black plastic unfortunately.

dai, ditemi che non è vero! Ha staccato il triangolo del telelever per smontare l'ammortizzatore anteriore del GS? E ha pure messo il bullone superiore del mono posteriore al contrario? Ossignur!

Hi, the lower bolt on front shock was totally seized so I had to remove the arm to gain better access. Rear shock upper bolt was refitted as I found it. It can't go in upside down?

Hell man might as well do a clutch job while its all apart!

It actually will need a clutch soon. It was slipping when I got it but I put a new seal into the clutch slave cylinder which fixed it but it does feel like the clutch is worn

If you're going to do a job, do it right the first time. Had my GSXR K1 1000 in very similar condition last year, when they need the TLC go all in.

@@BeanieBiker_AutisticRider yeh. Well I measured the plates they're showing half worn. No slippage now and I've done probably 500 miles or more. I just wanted to get out and ride it. If it starts slipping il split it and do the clutch. Job for another video 🤣

@@StevenRobertTaylor great video, good to see owners willing to get their hands on some tools and do the work themselves. Why I like to work on my own, very therapeutic to and watch. Cheers 🍻

@@BeanieBiker_AutisticRider thanks 😁 youl see plenty of stuff being fixed on this channel. I've seen enough horror stories in my day to not trust anyone to do work to anything I own. I also enjoy making something work that was otherwise broken, great sense of achievement. Keep wrenching and keeping the bikes going 💪
