great review. Took my '06 R1200RT for a 2800 mi. trip and it was wonderful. Cruised (well) above posted limit signs on state highways. handled great and the cruise control worked flawless. I agree , better than ST1100.

Minimalist, honest, and eloquent description of the motorcycle! Much appreciated. I watched halfway as I was in the process of purchasing a 2016 RS, now just completed watching the video. I am waiting for the aftermarket panniers (Shad) & the BMW topbox to be painted before I start some serious riding - looking forward to..

Great review. I’ve had the same bike for about a year now. I’ve got the dedicated GPS and cruise control. It’s really a good compromise. Not too heavy, handles well, great mpg. I’ve had ST1100s, St1300, FJR1300s, Ducati Multistrada 1260 and Concours. This is better than all of those, imo.

Yes, definitely a good sports tourer all rounder. I'm surprised how well it performs in the twisties for a 1200cc bike

Thank you for this video my friend! I just bought this same bike but wasn’t sure if I made the best selection I could, but due to this video now I’m certain We made the best possible purchase for what my wife and I were looking for… keep it up! Great work doing reviews. It’s appreciated!

Greetings from Vancouver Island. We're looking at replacing our ST1300. The RT, RS and FJR are on our short list. Appreciate your in-depth review.
@ChasingtheSunVlog
@ChasingtheSunVlog 6 ай бұрын
Those are all great sport touring motorcycles but it depends what you're looking for. The ST is probably the heaviest of them all and least sporty but offers good comfort and wind protection. The RS is on the other end of the spectrum being the most sporty. FJR would be second after the RS and the RT falls in the middle offering more comfort and tech. Hope that helps to give you an overview. Pick one that matches your riding preference.

@@ChasingtheSunVlog indeed. The challenge is finding examples of each to actually sit on your seeing the ergonomics work.

I just bought the same bike to add to my collection. It’s my first Turing bike and I am in love with it, it doesn’t have the power of my 1290 Super Duke Evo but the comfort makes the difference.

Very informative video, thanks. I've recently sold my Aprilia Caponord which I did find a bit heavy and big, although I loved the bike and it's ability and I'm currently looking at this perticular model so I was wondering since you mentioned that you'd owed a Caponord what's the main difference between the two and which do you prefer. The kind of riding I do is very much like yourself, sporty with some two up trips away. Thanks 👍
@ChasingtheSunVlog
@ChasingtheSunVlog Жыл бұрын
I don't own the Caponord. It's my buddy Jorg. You can watch this video where we compared my Tuono with his Caponord. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/i7R4pM-k0bqqpJ8.html I rode his Caponord a couple times and if you're more into sporty riding with Twisties, then my personal choice would be the RS. That boxer engine is surprising good in the twisites.

Hi. Really glad to come up with your video! I just bought a 2015 R1200RS similar to yours. Regarding the protection, can I ask you if your windscreen is OEM + x visor? From Puig, or a generic one? Can you share the link please? Thanks in advance 👍

Great video, trying to decide between the R1200RS and the KGT, my main concern is engine vibration, which engine would give a smoother ride?
@ChasingtheSunVlog
@ChasingtheSunVlog Жыл бұрын
I have heard of buzzing complaints on the K bike but I didn't feel it much when I rode my buddies k1300. The R1200 is quite smooth. There is that unique boxster vibration when it starts up though. Not a negative and not noticeable after you run it.

Nice review! Well done 👏 just to add on the keyless ignition and the bmw luggage. You still have to use the key to open panniers & top box, so the only difference to the givi system you have, is that with the genuine bmw set, you only have one key with you. I believe that on the latest RT the luggage is actually keyless, but as far as the RS goes (even r1250rs) the manual key operation is necessary. I'm looking forward to more reviews of your machine. One question, do you happen to know if the additional wind deflector is added to the original windshield, or is it a full aftermarket set? All the best from a fellow RS owner! 🙂
@ChasingtheSunVlog
@ChasingtheSunVlog 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment. That's good to know although I think it's silly they don't just make it the panniers keyless right from the beginning. The extra wind deflector is an add on

Also, I'm curious if you find your breaks to be soft? I'm not sure if it's all RSs or just mine?

@MickBla

@@ChasingtheSunVlog I've found the breaks to be very efficient if I'm honest... The RS has way more powerful ones compared to my previous machines being Honda vfr800 and Hornet. But the way you feel the system operates is very subjective I guess... so I guess the only way to find out is to test ride another RS. In summary, I'm very happy with these Brembo anchors. 🙂

Would u reccomend this for daily highway commuting? I worry because I sometimes get stuck in traffic, and not sure if this is too much bike for daily commuting (25 miles)
@ChasingtheSunVlog
@ChasingtheSunVlog Жыл бұрын
It actually behaves really well in traffic for a 1200cc bike. Unlike other super sport bikes, this is much more tame for city riding. Get the quick shifter option for sure!

I haven't made a video yet but have taken it on a long ride with my wife. It's comfortable for her especially with the top box, but she still experiences some wind as compared to the RT. This is because there is much more wind protection on the big RT front end and windscreen.

Yes. I agree, for long trips. So it really depends on someone wants more sport or more touring. It's great that BMW has bikes for these nuanced differences though. Not many others can offer that.
