In this video, we go on a demo ride organized by BMW Motorrad with RideNow Motorsports in Austin Texas.
This Texas heat was not going to stop me from going for a ride on this beautiful R-18 Bagger with the AMAZING Mineral White Metallic/Meteoric Dust Gold clor combo

So what if the weather was 100F+ and I had to wait in the heat for an hour to ride it for 15 minutes! I'd do it again. What an absolute beauty

I'm about to get mine and can honestly say I actually love that jerking, adds the unique element to the bike. Always thought of the vibration and even the slight jerk you feel when shifting is like a few "untamed horses" within the engines HP. I agree I do wish that instead of power reserve, having a engine temp or even recently on my bike I had a temp gauge in my handlebar that gave me a good idea to assess what I should bring or wear for my ride (something I have actually found verrryyy useful when riding touring bikes).

Brakes are amazing .they are not meant to be grabby but smooth luxury . However, when you use both brakes or need to make an emergency stop it’s brakes are world class.

To answer your question, you can't understand why people don't like these in U.S. because 50% of the population are followers and have this insatiable need to compete with each other on who has the biggest and baddest motorcycle, RV, house, car, truck or whatever it may be. I am with you.I've never understand this and have totally walked away from trying to understand it. I have always been a lone wolf and push back from the normies. That is why I now have a R18 in my garage. I am making a bet with my wife that it will be at least a year before we see one of these on the road. I see at least ten to twenty harleys every day on the road.

Great video and review. I was there with my 3 little girls, and test rode that same bike. I ended up getting the black demo that was in the show room, and I believe it's decision I made over the standard street glide I was initially setting for. A big shout to Hual the sales rep👍.

Great review. I am 65 and 5'5 after 10000 miles I can tell you it is easy to handle once you get used to it. Also the vibrations subside with break in. I have the winglets and taller windshield (200 from eBay).. Metzler tires now are much smoother. 58 bikes and I love this more each ride. Traded a street glide.. cheers

I have had this self same bike for nearly two years now. Have the complete "extras" package and have also installed the Transcontinental screen, front and rear crash bars, backrest (for the girlfriend) and luggage rack. I love my bike and wouldn't swap it for any HD. But, that vibration issue does get tiresome after a while. I can feel my eyes vibrating at certain speeds which blurs my vision somewhat. I'm English but live in Germany. When on the Autobahn, I ride at over 100 mph so there is nor discernible vibration anymore. It is indeed a comfortable bike. I part-exed my 2008Triumph Rocket Touring for the R18B and didn't regret it for one minute. The Rocket was a beast to ride, had it for seven years. No traction control, no ABS, all alone with a long giant bike which would bite you at any opportunity. The BMW is a dream in comparison. The power-guage is useless and I never look at it. This doesn't have Apple Car Play which is a real shame. The bigger screen makes all the difference but you still get a lot of wind coming through the forks and up over the tank into your chest. BMW doesn't have any solution for this and there are no 3rd party solutions either. If you want a picture of my modded bike, pse. send your email 👍

Ah that sucks about no apple carplay. I thought it did. I am editing a video of my first ride with a 2023 Road Glide CVO, which is around 45k USD here and all sold out. I can say before release of that video that you made the right choice. I will make the same choice when the day comes

excellent review brother, I am in Scotland and bought am R18 TC a month ago, love this bike. as we get a lot of rain here, I went the other way and put a powerbronze bagger screen on as at low speed in the rain, its difficult to see road surface detail through a wet visor and a giant window on the fairing. i am getting over 50 miles to a uk gallon = 4.5 litres

I am glad you enjoyed it. This is really out of my comfort zone, I rather be in front of a computer coding all day or just watch TV on my couch. Sometimes it is overwhelming for me. I hope I get better in time. Thx for watching

I hope it’s a good value. I’m buying one and it should be delivered soon. I have some concerns since it is so different for me. I think traditional V-twin riders don’t like it as much because it vibrates side to side instead of front to back. It’s just different.

I had the R18 Classic and never had any problems with vibration. If there was, it was a "nice" vibe. I keep seeing test riders commenting about vibes. Maybe people have a death grip on the bars. I also heard roll and rain modes are smoother, and rock is actually tuned to be less smooth. I never tried it, but I never had a problem with vibes in the 1st place. Anyone have any ideas what's going on?

I never rode the classic but I think the rake and the geometry of the bike is different between those. BMW didn't just slap a fairing they did the work

I rode a BMW R18B, and I thought the vibrations were intolerable for more than a few minutes, the ride was harsh, and the braking was not up to par. It probably didn't help matters that I rode my DCT Wing Tour to the BMW test ride.

I have both, an R18 and a Goldwing, and they are completely different in every way. To compare them is like comparing a ranch horse to a mule. They both serve different purposes.

2:45 , because the bike has 0 leg room. It's a bagger for around town and that just defeats the whole purpose of getting a bagger. The buyer market for baggers especially for traveling is over the 5'8" mark. If you're 5'5" this would be just fine but still cramped on a longer trip. People buying baggers don't want to be cramped up, so the only 2 real options are SG/RG or Challenger / Chieftain. Everything else with leg room just isn't worth the $$ spent due to resale value and parts.

Thx for watching. I am 6'2'' and wear size 12 boots. I never felt cramped up on this bike.

The term bagger is a harley davidson term. So keep this to the harley bruthers. The fact is some people don't want to ride around with suitcases hanging off of their bikes and their legs outstretched like their at the gynecologist. Don't get triggered. This is a fact. Some motorcyclists are purest, they do not want windshields, stereo systems.cruise control, heated grips, etc. They want the feel of the open road.
