Before I retired I used to sell to some factories that made instrument clusters. I was not allowed near the machines unlit I had fitted a wrist earthing strap to prevent a static discharge as research had found that whilst a discharge did not cause an immediate failure it could shorten their life. Now a always wear a strap if I’m working on electronic bits.

I have an 04 facelift Cooper with the single dial. Can I just plug in the double dial or is it car specific ie would it need coding?

I believe it would need some coding to make all the features work correctly. My car came with the double dials so I’m not 100% sure what’s required.

Hi i have a question about changing over the dials, recently changed my R53 to the two dials and they default to MILES and i need them in KM's..can you tell me how to change?

Sorry I’m not sure what you would need to do there but if it was me I would think it would be best to go to a main dealer and ask about programming it in.

would be twice as nice to have painted the outer rings black and around the orange needles.

I’m still undecided on the interior colours at the moment. I’ve just been sent red door cards and rear trim so I might go for red rings to match once they are in.
