And I think that both nuts are inches, the small one is 11/16" and the large is 15/16" or .9375" which is 23.8mm . Again a really great informative video, thank you.

I have three comments / questions: 1 - don't turn the engine over without a CCT, if you must turn it over to tension the chain then do it before removing the OEM one 2 - surely that o-ring that was fished out from inside the case needs to go around the APE CCT to maintain regular oil flow? APE state on their website IMPORTANT: WHEN REPLACING ANY HYDRAULIC OEM TENSIONER WITH A MANUAL TENSIONER, IT IS IMPORTANT TO MAKE SURE THAT THE OIL PASSAGE THAT SUPPLIED THE OEM TENSIONER IS BLOCKED OFF. FAILURE TO DO SO COULD RESULT IN A LOW OIL PRESSURE SITUATION. Other similar aftermarket CCTs insist on using both gaskets, the inner one prevents oil supplied to the stock CCT from escaping past the tensioner into the case 3 - A 17mm spanner worked fine (if a little tight) on mine

@TheOldMechanic
@TheOldMechanic 3 жыл бұрын
@@TheeMisterspain Hi, I can understand your worries mate, but if you want absolute sure not to drop a socket into the engine use a deep-socket... uhhh socket 🤣. I am not sure when the camshaft chain is too loose that it can skip a (camshaft) tooth.. But I just don't want to take that chance, so I screw it in by hand until you feel that its it pushes against the cam chain guider. Then jusr screw it out a bit, start up the engine and do the final tweaking. Just take your time to do it, and follow the easy steps mate. You can do it yourself I am sure..!

Do you know anything about the Kawasaki ZX9r's CCT? I just rebuilt the top end of my engine, refitted what I believe to be the original CCT, it was rattling more than before, and after a couple of revs the rattle got worse. I tried resetting it again, but didn't work, I guess it has failed after being removed and reset. Don`t do like this old grandpa. Don`t spin crankshaft when you remove tensioner. If your chain is loose after you removing tensioner, you have big chance to loose timing when rotating crankshaft and chain will hop per sprocket teeth. If that will happen -your day will be ruined completely.
