Vincent Genest if yours does not look like mine, you will need to research more. I would not recommend to “trial and error”. You will do more damage than help. If too complicated, check amazon for a real reset tool. Good luck.

Any old bit of wire with each end exposed for a centimetre is enough, although it needs to be thick enough to carry the current. I doubt if single strand computer thickness wire would be enough - not tried it. I used the sort of wire you'd use to connect a desk lamp to the mains.

Zachysj that is a great start. You have dealt with cooling system. I would check the intake system with rubber hoses. Then I would check the suspension system with brakes, rotors, and struts. Do post any video of your fix to help others. Thanks for watching. Just having fun fixing.

Sonny Nguyen just had the car up on jack stands for 2 days I observed some worn out bushings (old car but still drives fine), leak on diff, and leak what looks to be the oil pan. Car still drives and runs perfect no major oil loss but have you gone any of these routes? Or different repairs? Thanks

Zachysj if very little leak, you are fine. Long term is to fix those problems. Understand that these old cars will leak. By fixing them, the car/parts will last longer and you are keeping your driveway and garage clean (environmentally safe).

Yeah, that depends on the year. Since mine is a 96, battery is up front. Newer models are in the back. My 2003 z4 3.0 had a battery in the back as well.

@@Simplenetwks interesting... You learn something new every day I guess. Would never have known that not all z-3 batteries are in the same location.. And just for one year!😳 Thinking of adding a Z-4 too but will never sell my 3( have had it for 11 years). It has never failed me, store in the winter / connect battery in late April and go. Now has over 332 miles on it and I've still yet to drive it in the rain.

@@Simplenetwks as I said, I'd never get rid of myZ3. I've had Triumph TR-6's ,MG's, Jags, Porsche's , Datsun 260Z's yada,yada but my Z3 I'd never let go. It gets lots of huge compliments as I've kind of gone all retro taking off the dog ear mirrors from the doors ( I filled and repainted the doors) & added chrome bullet mirrors on the front hood. Took out the Z-3's review mirror as it was annoyingly a blind spot and put a chrome early MGA mirror mounted to the dash. Chrome rollbar, wooden steering wheel and racing stripes & numbers. It may sound tacky but it really isn't, it really looks amazing. I'm an old guy but you should never lose that 5 year old kid feeling of seeing a sports car you'll one day want and I see that in the eyes of kids when they see mine which I love .

Correct. Most of those reset tools are about $50 or so. When doing my research, I came across this and wanted to test it out.
