Old Man Bo Nix is todays focus! He is one of the hardest QB prospects to rank this year due to his age, and the skills he shows on film. Today we will take a look at this film and see what Bo Nix can bring to the table for a NFL franchise.

As a broncos fan, I want Nix in orange and blue next season. I think Sean Payton could get the most out of his development at the NFL level. Nix could run a Sean Payton offense very well and that makes me excited.

So, you're telling me that Bo Nix is a reliable dink and dunk passer, but in certain situations he can go for longer passes, and he's got the arm strength and accuracy to complete those passes. How does that imply failure at the pro level?

@@andjohn7912This is such a bad take. He operates in his system extremely well and did what was asked of him. Once he gets under SP his playbook is going to open up. A QB’s success comes down to coaching and the system they get drafted into and Nix is probably in the best case scenario out of any of them.

3:40 that ask to flip his hips with a defender in his face is a trash take. as a QB he has to go through his reads, the read was there and he got a first down. He's literally doing exactly what his coach would want him to do. You playmake when a decision is not there, not when you get bored. Not to mention he would have taken a sack there or a deflection at minimum for that.

I'm starting to think Oregon is just incompetent because it was the same story with Justin Herbert coming out too. Something about this Oregon system just makes your qb look like shit. I see a high floor and high ceiling for Nix. Even if he is just a game manager that can still be good especially on a rookie deal BUT if he can put his great athleticism and arm talent to work he could be elite.

No Way Jose >>> he will prob go in 1st rnd only due to the run on QB's but let's be real at 24 he will be almost 30 when his 5th yr option is up & as this vid maker properly pointed out he has ZERO middle-intermediate game & his footwork is a joke/disaster... also he is way too timid for a dude who is an adult playing against children & with an arm like that... you need to have aggression in the NFL... disciplined aggression for sure but there is really no aggression to Nix's game > if there were indications that those two questions were answered positively then sure the Broncos should TRADE DOWN & then scoop him up late 1st rnd or early 2nd. His proper ranking is as a mid-2nd Rndr... maybe a starter potential but no guarantees he will be the Franchise without further development... ONLY bcuz the Broncos have such a fav situ for him would I hope that he could get everything straightened out by wk 8 & have a CJ Stroud type year... even Mahomes who went #10 sat almost his full first season [started last game & beat us - BRONCOS] then started 2nd yr from the jump & the rest is history. This yt creator has the proper take: has abilities but he is old, timid & lacks proper technique in a few key areas.

Williams is the one always looking to scramble. Nix has a 85% adjusted completion ratio throwing downfield often. KSU and Chiefs fan so nothing Bias, judging on highlights compared to the others. People don’t understand Oregons offense. Nix has had full autonomy for two years. Literally anything is possible within a play pre-snap. He makes the call based on the defense. So his “reads” are not the same as traditionally is expected. A single play could have dozens of read combinations - he makes the call based on defense.

Trouble is he did it against Washington in the Pac 12 championship game and it cost them a chance at the playoffs because UW was ready for their quick game. IMO he hasn’t shown the ability to come off his first read and fully go through his progressions on a consistent basis. It works when you’re playing a slower, inferior team and you’re on the most talented roster in your conference. You can take the quick check down all day when you have superior playmaker that will outrun/break a tackle. But when the rosters are more balanced, when the defenses are faster and will close on the quick slant/hitch routes. Can he create offschedule and/or get to his 3rd/4th read in a progression consistently? Idk he didn’t have to do that a lot in college, especially not once he got to Oregon.

The most important thing is Bo Nix is coachable. Kid is very competitive and humble. You can tell he’s set his ego aside and will do whatever is asked of him in order to win. You need to understand how offenses are designed. Guys like him and Cousins run the play as coaches say. Plenty of those “dump downs” are the primary. I don’t like it either, but coaches do because it’s highly efficient and safe. They expect the receiver to make a play for the extra yard or two. It’s an absolute fact that Kirk Cousins is one of the top downfield throwers and it’s that way pretty much every year. These guys play within their offenses regardless of their strengths.

15:00 if Penix is better than Nix why does Nix have batter stats? Penix has a better line, better WRs and a better RB. Not to mention they play in the same conference and Penix doesn’t have to face the best defense in their conference.

Play at talked about at 4:00 is a bad example because if the first read is open you take that look. You don't go to the backside slant because its not open pre snap. You can't just throw to a covered area especially if they aren't showing blitz yet.

Oregon fans get ENRAGED if you pick apart Bo's game. He is the second coming of Jesus according to them. His stats are stellar on the surface, but when you watch his tape, you see a LOT of small ball. Dink and Dunk! That is the coaching staff protecting him, and their team. If he was asked to play a real pro offense, you would see the real Bo Nix. That said, he will get drafted and could potentially play well for some team. Still, he falls under the umbrella of so many other gimmick QBs coming out of college with huge stats, only to struggle in the pros (has a lot to do with the much wider field in college). Hope I'm wrong because I never want to root against any athlete and their dreams. But the tape doesn't lie. Only people lie!

Wider field in college? Its the same size Goofington
@SuperZekethefreak
@SuperZekethefreak 6 ай бұрын
@@analyticalinsight An NFL field must adhere to strict regulations set by the National Football League and be no larger or smaller than 120 yards long (360 feet) and 53 1/3 yards wide (160 feet). On the other hand, college football fields don’t have a one-size-fits-all rule when it comes to their measurements; they can range from 110 yards to 120 yards long, depending on the conference guidelines. Widths vary as well-they can be anywhere from 50 to 55 yards wide (150-165 feet). And in some conferences, the width of the field can be as much as 60 yards wide. At this time of year when pro analysts are digging into draft prospects, these facts come up again and again, because you can't run spread offenses in the pros - the field is much narrower and sometimes even shorter in length!

1st play you say he should have thrown to the other other is gonna result in him not being able to step into that throw as there is a DE bearing down on him. 2nd play that was his first read and the backside was blown coverage. It’s possible his pre-snap read was correct the defense just got mixed up in their execution. I think Bo Nix is at worst 4th best QB in this class. I think he has the highest floor and second lowest ceiling to McCarthey

Stanford had a terrible defense. Not surprised old white guys love him. I bet yall think this could’ve been y’all when you were younger 😂. He has a super low ceiling you should really watch tape. I don’t think he will regress much in the pros, that doesn’t mean he will be an all pro that means his skill set won’t be exploited. Actually my favorite QB in the class is Penix. It’s pretty crazy that pretty much the top 5 QBs all have a trait that is really good. Like I legit see some good ceilings from these QBs. Daniel’s: faster thinner Jalen hurts Nix: prime Russ Wilson Williams: Tall Kyler Murray Drake: Herbert Pennix: prime Derek Carr/ Cousins JJ: still need to watch. Obviously these comps have to do with ceiling which means good coaching which isn’t always the case. But I can definitely see pathways.

You mentioned "your Denver Broncos" as being a spot for Nix...that seems to be a prevailing opinion now, at least in the Denver fan base. But here is a very under the radar issue with Nix that almost nobody is talking about. He played for Gus Malzahn, the architect of the NHHU (no huddle-hurry up) type of offense Chip Kelly favored, & it's obviously one that does not prepare a QB well for the NFL, even less so when combined with a spread concept. This is the same coach & system that Jarrett Stidham decided to ditch after two seasons in Auburn & another playing for Art Briles at Baylor. Stidham has had to learn almost everything about playing in the NFL after that experience by sitting behind Brady & being in the coaching of Belichick, McDaniels & Payton. Yet despite this, people seem to think Nix won't face a similar problem. In point of fact, it's worth noting that when Nix transferred to Oregon, he actually followed Malzahn's OC Ken Dillingam there. Dillingham took those same Malzahn concepts with him, which is likely why Nix chose Oregon. That's concerning to me. After a third year under the Malzahn type offense with Dillingham, he left & was replaced by Will Stein, who essentially runs the same offense. Nix has had nearly all his college development in the same system that Jarrett Stidham bailed out of after two years in order to learn at the NFL level. Yet somehow people think Nix is ready & Stidham is not. Stidham was considered a probably first rounder also before a terrible Auburn team shipwrecked his last year there. We know how particular Payton is about development. Why would he opt for a rookie to start who will probably take multiple years before he's ready when he has one available already who won't?

It will be interesting to see if Payton does pull the trigger on him bcuz your critique's are totally valid- he is a QB who plays it safe like wilson but in order to succeed at the NFL Level you need to take what the DEF gives you BUT TAKE EVERYTHING THE DEF GIVES YOU... so yes he is a tough evaluation bcuz he will have to learn new things at 24 years old by the time his 5th year option arrives he will be almost 30... that all being said Payton may see his abilities & know that the things he isn't doing can be coached into him... after all that is the reason there is a QB Coach as well as an OCoord & in Payton's case HC with a great OFF mind & QB development skills... so if the BRONCOS TRADE DOWN & turn their 1st into 2 picks at a min to pick up Nix it's not like I will be upset... still you don't know until you see it & at 24 he should already have developed all the proper tech req'd to play the position properly

Good catches on the longer, faster throws he _does_ make. Being able to throw these passes once means he *can* throw them. so that he doesn't do so regularly isn't significant _unless he fails to when he should have._ That's not the case here. Strangely it _is_ the case with the guy he's replacing. Russ looks down one or both sidelines then checks it down. He has led the league in passes *behind the line of scrimmage - for **_five years straight!_* It's a perfect case of how people want to hang onto memes of the past thus not accepting the present. There are people who still maintain that Lamar is a glorified RB. Justin Fields is still the king of this though. Most people are more franchise than player-loyal. So when there's any disagreement between them, the fans end up siding with The Franchise, & usually that also means siding with coaches over players. When the Bears made it clear back about week 5 of '22 everyone got that message. But they also wanted to deny there *was* any message. Because that would mean they were complicit. So even after Fields called them out on it all publicly, twice, everyone acts like they never knew about it. He had to play under an HC who made it publicly clear that he despised him & a GM & team owner who wouldn't support him for over a year and a half. & during that time he made them the #1 offense 3 weeks straight. But because the fans had gotten the message he was hated even while doing that. & still is blamed for their play-calling. Vive La Franchise!

do some research. Bo does throw screens on 36% of plays but that could be play design or it could be what the defense gives him. Loot at his stats on 3rd and 4th down, look at his production on throws over 10 yards. He is good at all of it, not just dump offs. That's what makes the dump offs so effective. Because he can beat the defenses at all levels. He's good against the blitz too. Led the nation in positive plays against the blitz.

i’d say i would like to see him in black and yellow, but doesn’t seem better than what Pickett has shown. and it seems that is basically a bigger Purdy. if he’s willing to chuck it down the field entering the league, then i’d take him over Pickett. with a fresh new offense coordinator and set of coaches, we could use him for more on the medium to long passes. which we were missing this whole season until Mason came off the bench.
