Installation and operation of a pneumatic discharge waste water holding tank on a boat.
The video shows a basic working "prototype" of a small waste water holding tank on a yacht, where discharge from the tank is effected by air pressure generated by a simple dinghy footpump, although compressed air from bottles or alternative sources etc could be used in more refined versions.
The system may be suitable particularly on small boats where space is at a premium, and/or where 100% gravity discharge is not feasible.
The system has inherent safety issues, additional to those seen in "normal" hydraulic holding tank systems, which would need to be managed in more permanent installations to ensure that the integrity of the system is not compromised through unintended pressure build-up in the tank. This could be achieved for example by installing an excess pressure relief line between the two branches of the "L" valve or similar arrangements on the holding tank itself.
