Boatless Angler - Night Bite Striper - Shore Fishing for Striped Bass using Spearing

Күн бұрынWelcome to today's night time boatless fish catching edition. Today we're looking for that night time bite for stripers in Onset Massachusetts.
We're fishing with a very simple set up tonight: live spearing on just a plain hook - no added weight. This evening the stripers are right near the surface of the water, so we're going to target just below the surface and get right in the fish catching zone.
We're casting under a nearby bridge and slowing reeling in the live spearing, retrieving it just a lure.
It was so effective that even the first cast landed us a nice striped bass!

Great video guys always enjoy watching your fishing videos I did a little night fishing myself this weekend in the Choptank River in Maryland Bill Burton fishing pier a mile and a half long Bridge to fish off and had a great time caught some perch croakers and spots and some jumbo blue crabs take care guys and can't wait for your next video

I live a town over from onset. Wicked cool you make it all the way down here. You should consider a sunrise session on the canal for striper in the future!

Try using a small weighted bobber next time if you want to get a little more distance.

Striper, or Rockfish/Rock/Rockies as we call them in Maryland are my favorite fish to catch. Next time I would suggest using a python darter or a flexi-jig. I use jigs alot down here and they absolutely destroy schools of breaking rockfish.

This is surreal ! Is that freshwater striped bass? Was it in summer time?

Nice! Would it be a bad idea to put a bobber on the line a ways up from the hook so that you can have a little more weight for casting without sinking your bait?

Eric Lindholm Hi Eric - we actually heard the Stripers as they moved in with the incoming tide....look for areas with rocks or, you can also find them cruising along sandy beaches :)

Im curious on what kind of hooks you use. Barbed or Barbless? In a lot of your videos it seems the hooks always slides out with ease. Either that or your really good at removing hooks!

Ivo, what would you attribute the lost fish to? Is it something striper are notorious for? New to striper and walleye as of this summer and love that you've covered both in recent videos.

Logan Webster Hi Logan....good question...only thing I could figure was that they must have just been barely hooked and as soon as they started to pull, they came off - if you notice the ones that we did land, that they were hooked really good :)

Be careful IVO on all those rocks, like MrMac5150 mentioned you do not want to slip and break a leg,ankle or worse hurt your back bad..

Rauthaga I like to use leaf worms as live bait or jigs/flies for artificial bait :)
