Growing up we used to make a day trip out of a floating a 16 footer down the Merrimack river down to its mouth Newburyport, MA out into the Atlantic ocean. I remember my stepfather being an ace at the hammer navigating through what I thought were rough waters as he'd get us passed the jetty into the open ocean every time. These videos you compile are next level thrill and bring back the memories of the past but also showing me just how powerful our oceans are

Love your channel and am binge watching now. I'm a performance boat guy (Baja, Cig, Fountain, Outerlimits, etc) and run up and down the SoCal Pacific coast and out to Catalina. We can get some big water out here but we don't have rough water inlets like Haulover. I'd love to see an in-boat camera running in and out of the inlet on a rough day.

Some nice boats we are a colder climate we don’t get to see many of these mostly trawlers and mono haul sailboats, and fishing boats of all lengths. I have a trawler like to have freedom of all weather travel

I've given this a lot of thought (about 1 minute...) and concluded I agree, the last boat failed. In my judgment the skipper is responsible for securing passengers, and she wasn't braced for the what was ahead. He took a sharp turn and that dumped her off her little seat, onto the floor. Skipper fail, Haulover win.

Those boats can full speed out without any splashing.

You say you have experience boating, but your narration doesn't reflect that. The tide is not making it hard to control the boat and forcing them off course, it is changing the shape and spacing of the waves. They are steep, close together, and to avoid having the stern ride the face of a wave and push you along, while at the same time the bow is being forced under the tail of the wave in front, you can turn a little and run the trough to effectively reduce the length of your boat relative to the waves.
