While I agree wholeheartedly, finding “a bunch of doctors” to obtain additional opinions is much easier said than done.

I did exactly what this man is describing one year ago to the month I was diagnosed with prostate cancer at a score of 3 + 3. I was told I had a lot of time to decide what I wanted to do. Now here we are nearly exactly one year later and it is spread to my iliac lymph nodes. While I fully agree second and even 3rd opinions are necessary be mindful that even a slow-growing cancer can grow quickly

You had a Gleason 6 ? My understanding is that 6 doesn't metastisize . Did they miss another more aggressive cancer growth?

@mattv3668 as it turns out I had a PET scan done. It did not show any new growth or spreading. Not sure why the prior mri showed two lymph nodes that were "hot" So now I am back to my original concern. Should I just do the watch and see approach? And to add my psa has never gone above 8.02 This is low by the numbers I am reading here

The first thing to do after a diagnosis of prostate cancer is to educate yourself.

When the only tool you have is a hammer everything looks like a nail. A surgeon will prescribe surgery. Bob is right seek out multiple opinions from multiple treatment disciplines.

Most doctors now recommend radiation.

My oncologist who has s also a surgeon immediately recommended surgery. I saw 3 more doctors, watched countless videos and radiation was my best option.

>>Undetectable levels of Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) have been reported from the first patient with metastatic castrate-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) to ever receive two cycles of Clarity’s 67Cu-SAR-bisPSMA at the 8GBq dose level. PSA is a marker of tumour burden, clinical response to treatment and an indicator of the recurrence of disease for prostate cancer.

After seeing various doctors, my wife and I elected to go with proton therapy. We ended up seeing Dr. Lee at the Texas Center for Proton Treatment. After researching, we wanted to avoid any photon treatment. Please do your research. Dr. Lee was aggressive which we wanted.

Hi All, I have a gradual increase in PSA, 4 years after the removal of my prostate and subsequent radiotherapy as the PSA started to increase. I have recently had two CTs, a PET scan, and most recently a skelletal scan whose results I will receive this Friday. Here is my question: twice the last two years, the PSA once dropped from 0.38 to 0.17 without any treatment, the second time a month back before all the scans the PSA dropped from 0.36 down to 0.28. It could drop further when I undergo another PSA test in two months time. My current PSA level is 0.28. So, could somebody advise why the PSA drops so suddenly? Not that I am complaining. This friday I will discuss a plan of action with the hospital staff to hear what the next steps are. Right now no scan has revealed a source of PSA in the body or organs. I have taken PSA tests every 3 months since 2019 and I have drawn a graph to illustrate the ups and downs of the PSA, which is interesting. All comments from people that have experienced such a phenomena or have advice, are very welcome.

The PSA test is the most controversial test ever! Men with low numbers can have cancer and high numbers can have no cancer. Most all men who die at normal age have some amount of Prostate cancer.

Were those PSA analyses all done at the same laboratory? There could be slight differences due to different methods especially at that low concentration.

There are 2 ways to avoid prostate cancer: 1. do not ever do a vasectomy (increases prostate cancer risk by 98%) 2. have sex 3-4 times a week

Why sex 3-4 times a week? Is this a joke or is there a correlation between prostate cancer and the amount of sex you have??x

Anyone opting for surgery these days is nuts, regardless of the diagnosis.

I’m 1 year after surgery and it’s like before the surgery everything works great feel great no issues best thing I ever did. Your comment is weird if you don’t know what you’re talking about. I know plenty of people that had radiation and we’re having a terrible time on it. with radiation you only get worse in times it keeps the burn takes so long to get back to normal. surgery in the minute your done you start to heal a year later you back to the way you were I’m proof.
