Bob Babbitt was a staff bassist at Motown along with James Jamerson. His discography is nothing short of amazing. As you will see in the following video interview, he is also a very kind and humble man. It was really cool to sit and watch this interview take place....every time he spoke of records he played on, that I have heard since I was a kid, my jaw hit the ground.
Not only was this something awesome to take in, but I was more impressed with his humbleness, kindness, and willingness to share his knowledge to encourage our readers in all they aspire to do with their careers. Please take the time to watch this interview, as there are few men alive today that have played on such hit Motown records. This will be a stunning interview if you have passion for bass the way we do here at Bass Frontiers.

so tragically underrated its a shame. he had to endure being in the shadow of Jamerson but still stayed in Detroit. The Scorpio bass solo changed bass playing forever. nobody thought a bass solo could be so musical and rhythmic at the same time

Bob, a lot of us grew up listening to you, and we didn't know you. Ah, but we did...before we even knew your name. Even after finding out who the great James Jamerson was, and STILL didn't know you... you surprised us all with your skill and incredible performances. "Tears Of A Clown," is absolutely one of the best bass performances on a pop music track -ever. Your recorded legacy is incredible. R.I.P. my twin brother!

What a lovely man. When they make the movie of Bob's life story, they really have to get Robert De Niro to play the lead role. Thanks for the music. Bob. X
