In the beginning of the show, they are leaving the dock. In the background the flag is at half mast. Because the scene was shot at the time Kennedy was assassinated! The only sitcom to have an historical reference!

@@simpleman283, the Kennedy family was tied up with the mob...The JFK jetset quasi-god image was a product of being Eastern, a liberal, and having money= hyped by NY-BASED LIB TV. It was not only filmed at the time, it was filmed ON November 22, 1963. Also, can you please rephrase your comment, "SHOT at the time Kennedy was assassinated" seems a bit harsh, don't you think?

Jonathan Harris often said that the reason he was the “special guest star” on Lost in Space even though he was signed to play a regular character was because everyone else was already signed and the billing positions were already contractually obligated. He had to be last. So he arranged for himself to be billed as he was because it would bring him greater visibility. Not quite analogous to Tina Louise’s story but similar enough. I am glad Russell Johnson and Dawn Wells ended on the opening credits. Bob Denver deserves credit for that.

That Bob Denver did shows what a great guy he is. However for Tina Louise to have done what she did by removing that clause from her contract, shows that Ms Louise is a classy lady. Every single actor on Gilligan's island are great actors. That is why the show can still be seen on TV, six decades later!

Tina Louise's logic does not work out. Gilligan, the Skipper too, the Millionaire & his wife - the movie star (no name given) & the rest. How is TL going to be remembered if she is the last name but has no name? The professor & Mary Ann - Mary Ann had a name but no descriptor like Gilligan. The way the song starts, it ends. Who would have thought a show done in a parking lot would be so popular. I am certain the actors did not think about continuous residuals for 10000 replays.

A very touching story of Bob Denver watching out for Mary Ann and Professor to be billed in opening credits, and Tina helped out too! Stand up guy! I remember watching Dusty Trails show after Gilligan which included actors Bob and the Skipper. Unfortunately that show did not have the magic of Gilligan's Island. Gilligan was sometimes like watching a live action spoof of crazy inventions, like seen in the Flintstones cartoon shown introduced each week. Fun to watch.

For me Bob Denver was the main attraction of the show but at the same time it wouldn’t have been he same if any of the characters went missing. There was an intrinsic harmony and equilibrium that existed because of what every character brought to the show.

I watched probably every episode when I was growing up, and Dawn Wells was one of my favorite characters on the series. Knowing how little she and her co-stars were paid (considering the enormous wealth made by the owner/producer of the show), I hope future stars and celebrities will learn about how to negotiate contracts so that they can actually live on their earnings if they don't have long, well-paid careers. God bless Dawn Wells.

Major Nelson also got screwed out of all his royalties for I Dream Of Jeannie, which aired on CBS. Then later when he was playing JR Ewing on Dallas, he didn't show up to work after the summer of "Who Shot JR?" For its time it was as big of a cliff hanger as the end of Avengers: Infinity War. Every red-blooded American tuned into Dallas to see what happened. But no JR. Larry Hagman sent his agent in instead, to renegotiate his contract. This was payback for Jeannie. He really ripped them a new one. He got a huge salary increase, rerun royalties, creative control, and hiring/firing authority on the set.

@@What_Fred_Said I agree the entire cast got shafted by a greedy Mr. Schwartz. I don't know if the actors' salaries were comparable to other sitcoms, but it didn't seem like it was. But the biggest insult was only paying them royalties for the first few re-runs and zero after that. Considering Schwartz himself made millions off of their work. I guess in those days though, the actors were happy to be getting a paycheck and perhaps didn't understand how to properly negotiate a contract that would ensure that they would get due compensation if the show became a success and ended up in syndication.

I'm just seeing this. I think Bob did the right thing. It is said that Bob and Dawn remained friends till he died. It was said Dawn was the one sending Bob weed to help his pain towards the end of his life. If she was I don't think either would of told, now that's a friend. Today there is medical cannabis for those with certain illness. In fact a friend of mines son moved to colorado to help grow medical cannabis. That was 7 years ago. I must say I do not use Cannabis oil,or other medical products. To each his or her own. I do think Bob got injured a lot while filming Gilligan Island. I still watch Gilligan Island on me tv. Yes the earlier version of the song did not include the professor or maryann. Now I know who had a hand in it. I wouldn't want to be called the rest either. So I applaud Bob Denver for speaking up and seeing that all was treated fair. Dude you put the Cool in Cool Classic. I'm still finding videos I missed, also rewatching those I have. I enjoy everyone of them. It may be a year later, but what matters is that I'm seeing this and others now. And Enjoying all of them. I haven't see a bad one yet.👍💯%❤👏👏👏. The problem wasn't Tina, the problem was Schwartz. Maybe he was afraid if he gave Wells and Johnson (already two accomplished film and television actors) screen credit he would have to pay them more $$$. Schwartz wound up making millions in syndicated re-run residuals while the cast got s***. Wasn't a generous man. Fun facts: Schwartz got Gilligan's name out of a phone book. Gilligan was also the only character in the show with NO first name (it was said that Schwartz intended it to be "Willy," but it was never used). Though Denver always claimed "Gilligan" was his character's first name, Gilligan is a surname of Irish origin.

God's word makes it clear that "the whole world is lying in the hands of the wicket one". 1 john 5:19 ººWorld wild causes of death this year est. as of April, 2ᴺᴰ 2020 2,859,465 - Deaths from Hunger 2,099,810 - Deaths from Cancer 1,278,108 - Deaths from Smoking 639,456 - Deaths from Alcohol0 429,800 - Deaths from HIV/Aids 124,310 - Deaths from Season Flu 55,465 - Deaths from COVID-19 Source : www.worldometers.info Almost 250 years of U.S. democracy and only six years of peace. 1720 Great Plague…1820 Cholera…1918 Spanish Flu…2019 Corona Virus Their format never changes. COVID comes from the same cruelty that gave us the imaginary Y2K bug. There will always be more viruses on Earth than stars in the sky. Truth sounds like hate to those who hate truth. ººWhen you exhale through a mask you can feel your own breath being blown into your eyes. You exhale 80% of what you inhale, if you are exhaling the virus, it's quite likely back into your own eyes. The only thing that a mask does is show compliance, obedience, gullibility and submission. ºIf you are wearing a mask then you have to breathe twice as hard twice as deep and twice fast You sweat more and your pores open up. ºIf you spend too much time sterilized and isolated you will weaken you immunities. They know this. ºClose to 37,000 people a day (mostly children) die from a most horrible yet curable disease called starvation. But we are to believe that the governments are concerned for our health ? Our lives are truly in the hands of the wicked one. ººIf you wear glasses and a mask then every time you exhale you'll fog up your glasses, effectively blinding you with every breath. ººJust to add to the depravity, the vaccine patent number is 060606, and it contains an ingredient called 'Luciferase'. (you can't make this stuff up). The elite made it clear to the world centuries ago, that nothing will be hidden from us, except in plain sight. (the best liars always tell the truth).

Fun Fact: In the original "unaired" pilot(in quotes because it's all over KZfaq and was shown during a Gilligan's Island marathon), the theme song had a Calypso sound and was written by none other than John Williams. Another Fun Fact: The band that sang the Gilligan's Island theme was a group called The Wellington's. We know them from the show as The Mosquitos.

Being billed last can actually be a good thing if you're billed as, "Also Starring As..." or "And... As." Tom Bosley on Happy Days, Ann B. Davis on The Brady Bunch are both examples that the extra acknowledgement of an "And...as" suggests that they're considered a high-ranking star in the show as opposed to a lesser player. Jim Backus was a big name and was billed as "Also Starring..." and Tina Louise shows up as "AND Also Starring..."

Russell Johnson and Dawn Wells had every right to be a bit miffed about the credit listing thing in the 1st season. They were important cast members as much as any of the other great performers on the show. Glad Bob D. put his foot down for all the right reasons.

One obvious question that wasn't answered: Was Tina Louise asked if she wouldn't mind changing the contract?? If not, why not just ask her first before going to all the trouble of hiring song writers, presenting the new song, having it turned down, Bob saying he wanted his name to go last, etc.?? I'm wondering if either they knew she wouldn't agree to it right away or if Sherwood was against it for some other reason. That would be interesting to know. Loving your videos!

A very uplifting story I forgot to tell you in my last comment but four-star studios was half a mile from my house when I was growing up in studio city and I played Little League over on Moorpark Street between Laurel Canyon and Colfax and Alan Hale Junior used to come by and watch our games. My uncle Richard was a key grip on the show.

@@CoolClassics I also had a paper out in the studio city area and the gentleman that starred in Mr. Ed was one of the people on my route his name was Allen something or other I can’t remember he was a real nice man and because my uncle was a key grip a he worked a lot of shows over there so one of the shows he worked on was combat so I got to see combat being filmed on the site it’s actually pretty boring

Yes Bob Denver was a stand up guy . If you count the pilot episode there were 4 theme songs . The pilot had an opening and a different closing theme song , sang by Sherwood Schwartz .

How refreshing to hear something, ANYTHING, positive about Tina Louise. In every 'Behind the scenes' program it FEELS like ALL the people interviewed are trying super hard not to mention Tina/Ginger, glaze over rumors of her bad-ish behavior &/or in the very best interviews any mention of her brings a perfect example of "Damned by faint praise". This, of course, let's everyone know she was a real brat on set. It's just nice to hear she actually did something nice.
