Fantastic version, and it's also so rare to see Bob having so much fun playing. And, oh god, I am so TIRED of people who say they can sing or play better than Dylan, who are the same kind of jerks who go to a museum and say their five-year-old daughter can paint better than Picasso. So what? Who fucking cares? I can probably sing better than Dylan too, but I AM NOT DYLAN and never will be. He's a genius and also a very lucky man to have been in the right place at the right time. He constantly reinvents himself, which is the mark of a true artist, and does completely different versions of his own songs all the time (ditto). He is Dylan, and is a milestone in the history of rock. "nuff said.

Good points. But we really need to further define what it means to be a "good singer". Having a classically great voice is admirable, but it doesn't mean you can sing with deep expressiveness or have a distinctive voice. The voice that is somewhat imperfect but unique and soulful--that's what matters most to me. Bob Dylan is known for that kind of voice--immediately identifiable as his and so expressive with the material. Of course, he doesn't always use that voice in concert. I've seen him too often trying to blot out anything from his original recording, singing in this fast monotone without expression, as if going blank.

One of the great songs by the greatest songwriter. Several years ago when my daughter was in college in MInnesota, I found myself one day driving north next to the Mississippi River, and when I glanced at a road sign it hit me like a thunderbolt: I was on Highway 61 (revisiting it for the first time, I suppose.) This is a great performance.

You know... this is one hell of a song. I've got it from like 3 other musicians besides Dylan's original and subsequent recordings... and it sounds damned good every time. Each artist did it in their individual way and it came out right. Sometimes this aspect of the songs Bob Dylan has given us is overlooked. To support this, replay this video and hone in on Susan Tedeschi putting her stamp on it. Dylan is a consummate professional here - laying down in the weeds whenever Susan takes her lead breaks. Very nice to see.

This is from 1999.many years ago, but i first saw Dylan in the 1970s w his Rolling Thunder Review..now this was def a cool group of musicians. I was in love with his music lyrically, and ISIS is powerful. But when Joan Baez and the especially unique and special Joni Mitchell are there too......i was in heaven. My luck changed. I hung out with those 2 ladies at a bar in Buffalo NY, way back in 1977 or 78. CSN&Y appreciated these ladies too. But to hear Tedeschi with Bob Dylan, I'm here...another of the great Women who know good musicians . Who has a place among the great guitarists of all time..Derek Trucks. Dylan was an influencer of a very special kind. His Ballads are on par w/ Leonard Cohen .

Abraham was commanded by God to kill his son. It’s in the Old Testament-famous Bible story. In order to prove his faith Abraham had to do the unthinkable. He took his son up a mountain and tied him up. He was ready to slit his throat when God stopped him at the last second. There’s your sadistic God that so many worship. As Dylan puts it, when Abraham hesitated God said, “Well the next time you see me coming you better run”. No choice for the guy

Cooler than this fun, cool, historic video is the back story. In 1988 a little boy, walking to the neighborhood sandlot to play baseball with his buddies in Jacksonville, stops at a yardsale and buys a used guitar. He was nine. Two years later he's on stage with Bob Dylan, playing "Highway 61 Revisited". At 20 he's a guitarist for the Allman Brothers Band. Opening for the band that summer of 1999, was that incredibly cute, and well regarded singer Susan Tedeschi. They meet. Derek is impressed with her record collection, and they fall in love. Three or four months later, Susan, not to be outdone by her new boyfriend/future husband, is on stage with Bob Dylan, playing, (what else?), Highway 61 Revisited.

Yes Theresa, you got it. I know many "famous" musicians and I've sat with them, just the 2 of us and at public appearances, talking about things other than music. But when they hit the stage, that's when they shine. And, when you know them and they're on stage playing ,you can see when they're having fun playing with other great musicians it is a joy. They love playing for people and they really appreciate the fans; that is the ones I know. I have met some, however, that developed that snobbish attitude. Those are the ones that I avoided from then on. The ones that I've known over the years and stay in touch with are the genuinely nice people. They are humble and most don't know how great they really are. But I love to see them having fun and laughing and playing with other great musicians.

@@perstorbye6213 That's Bob. One of the great things about going to his shows is trying to figure out what song he is playing before he actually starts singing, and sometimes, if he has really changed it up, it isn't until he hits the chorus or refrain that the song is revealed. One can imagine how boring it would be, being on an endless tour as he is, to approach a song the same way every night. The variety is one reason his concert bootlegs are so great!

Bob Susan Tedeschi - Dylan - what a pair! In all of the live videos here both of them are always very focused on their music and appear more introvert on stage. But here - I don`t know what funny things they smoked before their performance - they have a lot more fun as they usually show on stage. Very enjoyable to see how they let their hair down! GIve us more! Thanks for posting.
