I see a nod to the increasing industrial/technological sophistication of the United States, and the world, at the time. A glimmer of fantasy, an acknowledgement of past motifs, lessons learned, but a forward looking gaze to an unknowable, but hopeful future. The Clarinet is a singular voice, the keyboard, the sidewalk, the bass, the heartbeat and thoughts of the city itself. The driving wind section is the sunlight and moon trading paths through the concrete jungle. The flutes and strings the individual and the masses flowing through and around each other like leaves on the wind.

..and not just GWJr. CTI/Kudu in their heyday appeared to be almost a collective of brilliant musicians, all produced and arranged by the same people. Imagine Motown for jazz fusion! Just look at the list of contributors at any of the album's throughout the 70s and 80s and you will see how well they fit together. But all with their individual style and theme. Some the classics came during these two decades. I remember buying most of them when in London. Hope you get a chance to sample some of the others.
