One of the things I love about Mould's songwriting is that he sings about people and their relationships, not about men and men specifically (or men and women) - his love songs are about the things in relationships that are common for all genders. He's also a kickass guitarist.

This is the first time that I have looked at this chap in interview. I have been listening to his music for twenty years. I am not disappointed. A good dude.

Bob Mould is such a great musician. Hüsker Dü, Sugar, solo, and now his collab with Foo's too! Kudo's to him!

"If I can't change your mind then no one will!" Those lyrics has always sounded so ominous to me. I saw and met Bob at a book signing event down in Austin some years ago. Bob was so friendly and nice. I think I was the only person at that event who'd actually seen Husker Du live, which I did, about five times.

You know he is a great songwriter when his music is liked by everyone. His sexual preference makes no difference to me. He is one of the toughest artists out there. He opens himself up to express the feelings we all will feel at sometime in our life. Feelings of sadness, bitterness and hope. His music has been the soundtrack to my life. Sounds cheesy but true. Thanks Bob for the great music you have made.

yes! for me,only since about 1995,when my brother made me a tape with 'copper blue' and 'file under easy listeining', easily the most-played tape ever! the last dog andpony show was great... i hope he keeps making more music for a long time!

James F Honestly, if not for him being open about it, one would never know he was gay. He doesn't act feminine and doesn't speak with a feminine voice.

@@jimbo-fk4dq i don't believe ya! he's not all that macho, man! just kidding! he looks a little bit too damn big to mess with in any case, but where does he get the stuff he gets! he digs, he's a hard-ass-worker, that's how! a real people-unit, he seems to be, which ironic'ly, alienates me because i guess his work is so personal, or somethin', that it's not so easy to share enthusiasm for, it's the damn'dest thing! i think he's the greatest-there-ever was, practic'ly, well, it took a long time to form that opinion, and obviously there's a lotta greatest, but there's only one of this one! if i got anything from young bob, over the years, it's a sense of melody, lyrics, rhythm, y'know, rhyme, loneliness, regret, isolation, elation, fond memories, and real deepened sense of all these things and so many more! it's because of his work! because he cared about it, and it was obvious to me, so one has to try to take it seriously, so to speak which can be challenging , ha ha, only because it's so easy to jump from song to song, or , y'know, music to music, with so many so-called easy choices or what-have-ya.. but bob has a way of pullin' the listener in, at the right tipping points or whatever, he's the slickest! practic'ly! yet he simply plods along and won't be dissuaded, which continues to mystify me! not that i would dissuade the guy if i could! it's myself that i gottabe careful not to discourage or goof-up at too many points-on-the-compass or whatever! what an inspiration he is and always was!, for all sorts of folks, i would imagine! respecto! i could say so much, oops, i hope i ditn't!

Bob Mould rocks. His Husker Du songs helped get me through my teens. I didn't realise he was gay until a long time afterwards (round about the time of Sugar), and although I'm not gay myself, by then it just reinforced my sense that when artists really communicate with people it doesn't matter whose ass they stare at in the street. He writes great fucking songs and sings and plays them with passion, and that's what matters. In short, if he came on to me, I'd have to think pretty hard about it.

Remarkable how older generations have a much better grip on what an interview is for. Yes, they're older but even in their youngest efforts you can spot the difference.

I used to listen to them and really liked them at the time, but just recently I've really understood how influential they were for what came after. One may say that it took me some time. He'd be right

For folks that want to hear a lot of the backstory to songs and Bob's life in general (unless you have issues with reading about his sexuality), read his bio. It's a fascinating read.

Never could get into Husker Du but loved Bob's early solo stuff and Sugar. Kinda lost track after the late 90's. Bob looks the healthiest I've ever seen him so looks like he is in a good place. Last I heard, he was living in Berlin.

Never been a 'massive' Husker Du fan, always respected them. I was aware of them, had my favourite songs (girl on heaven hill, etc) Never bothered with sugar Seeing this, he's just seems like a great guy- I'm going to bother with what he's doing (that sounds awful I know, no better way to express myself). Thanks for posting
