"People go nuts when I play it, it's easy to play, it's in my vocal range still. It's one of just superb-super-easy-fun-everybody-loves-it songs. Why would you not play those?"

Saw him solo in a 250 capacity club last week in Cardiff and my ears are still ringing. I'm 56 and I was still buzzing the day after with adrenalin from a man 5 years my senior still in 2022 rocking my world with just a voice, a guitar and a songbook of great songs (and yes he played Hoover Dam woo 😎)

I saw Bob Mould in Seattle last month. He played all of Copper Blue, a big chunk of Silver Age (which is absolutely brilliant), and some Husker Du. It was a huge love-fest. Everybody was drenched in sweat and high-fiving and hugging each other. Bob tweeted about it the next day.

Bob has been a fixture in my music listening ever since Husker Du. Not trying to brag - I'm just that old. Thank you for everything you've done Bob.

I found him through Sugar and went back to Husker Du and forward ever since. Between him and Neil Young, he defined what songwriting and guitar playing could be to a now old geezer who was tempted to hang around just to shake his hand after a gig this week, but knowing how private he is off stage, decided to just leave him in peace and let the music ring in my ears once again. That's enough for me - long may he keep playing and writing and being Bob Mould 🤘

I am "nearly" a die hard Metal and Punk only fan of music, I listened to Husker-Du on rare occasions as a young teen. I accidently found Bob through his band Sugar which I ordered from Columbia House records and Tapes. One of the best decisions I ever made. Now 30 years later I have seen him play only 3 times sadly, but those three performances were in my top 20 concerts of all time. Bob is my 4th favorite artist in all the genres of music I love. From Husker-Du to his solo project and Sugar there is a song for every mood, every feeling, and everything I need to accompany me through life. It's good to have something positive to bring me some semblance of peace in life. I could never thank him enough.

Hoover Dam, for me, has always symbolized the dichotomy of suicide. That upon attempting this very final act we gain perspective awareness, that requisite flash of purity in reason for why we’ve come to stand on the edge of the Hoover Dam. Standing on the center line feeling ones ambivalence, ones indecision for creating reason to or not to jump, feeling every feeling that humans can feel. Looking deeply into the Void of past & future while standing in the present slows down our sense of the importance of time. I’m standing on the edge of the Hoover Dam,….I Am.

His music make me want to pick up my strat and try to play like Bob. That won't happen but it is still fun to pretend. I listened to Black Sheet of Rain CD today. That CD is freakin amazing. Still holds up after all these years.

so strange the ones who wrote the words to all the great songs dont know what the song actually means but for some reason all who hear it really enjoy it though they dont know what it means either. its a code all poetry is the most popular songs in the past century all seem to talk about two things. in america its called the mid life crisis in india the kunalini awakening its a sudden vast expansion of consciousness also called the all seeing eye of god at first it resembles madness the mind has trouble taking in the new information after that it seems the universe is speaking to you from everywhere about math, geometry, physics and magnetism. one image appears the dielectric void a means of traveling without moving. search spiral over norway circa 2009. it seems to me that is what this song is about. Hoover Dam is a concrete arch-gravity dam that would control floods, provide irrigation water and produce hydroelectric power.
