This was a great interview. Even back then she acknowledged God and her trust in Him. Liked the energy from the interviewer too! Vanity was clearly sober and coherent and as always beautiful! What a stunningly gorgeous Black woman she was!! I so wish that her path would've been different, but it was what it was meant to be. Thankfully, she found her path to Christ and was a true champion for His kingdom. R.I.H. sweet angel!! You definitely earned your wings while you were here!!

Yes this was the usual denial of a drug addict while using She later admit her heavy drug use through the 80s, which affected her kidneys causing major health problems later towards her death but she found her victory in Christ & her ministry

I have read her book which now I want . I wish would have met and known her as Denice post Vanity. She was real sweet and genuine and reading comments here and there from people who socialized with her through social media and the such brings to at heart how human people are beyond the celebrity status. Her heart was the real beauty then beauty itself.

@@calisongbirdShe was definitely using all through the years until mid 90's She had a major relapse in 1994, and went into major kidney failure and that is how she actually passed away, she was on dialysis for many years 5 times a day until it finally took her, so very sad. Her book is an excellent read and explains all of this in great detail.

Stop worrying about the technicalities of the dates and have actual empathy for addicts. It’s an illness and so many succumb to it rich famous or not .

I hadn’t heard her talk about her drug use like this before. I think this was why Sydney was so believable…she was genuinely acting from her heart, sober, and emoting what she experienced. Lovely soul….so missed💗💐

Action Jackson was my introduction to Denise, the actress. She was remarkable, and her natural abilities impressed me. Her story is overwhelming; she weathered many storms of pain and death before finding life through Christ. But praise Him that Denise turned herself around and didn't cease telling her story. She walked away from everything happening for redemption, and through Jesus, she received salvation. There is no greater beginning to anyone's journey.

Yeah man, I’m glad she found the Lord Jesus before passing. I met her back in 2007 in the bay area. I worked at a nice hotel and she came through, I was so star struck, I mean every dude who wasn’t gay had a crush on her. She even baptized my daughter too. Awesome experience I had with her then and yeah, she was all about Jesus too. Cool lady and so beautiful.

I don't ever recall reading that she did heroin. That was Nikki. Denise did crack. Nikki said in The Heroin Diaries that she taught him how to freebase coke.

"...drug additcition is something you're born with..."???? Ummmm I'm far from an expert. Not a doctor. But, no one can be "born an addict" :) ) No one is born an addict to anything....drugs, pocket-kiife collecting, gun collecting.....etc... She wanted to "live THAT llife....of the rock star....".....Why so many guys want to be rock stars....they see the GLAM in that lifestyle....try a little then get addicted/rehab...come out of it or they die. "Sex, drugs and rock/n'roll"....not what people think ...it's not alway "fun".....always costs...in some shape or form... It's a shame...she was a beautiful woman...
