Bobby Caldwell is still around; he's 69 this year. This is his most recognized song, but he does have a few other hits as well. In my opinion his first two albums were his best because they were so smooth and soulful. Like all artists do, he started changing up his style a bit. It wasn't all bad, but I really disliked the album where he was trying to sound like Sinatra. Anyways, recently he's returned to his R&B roots though I haven't heard his last album in full entitled "Cool Uncle" which was released in 2015.

He is the original. 2pac covered Bobby's song. 2 Pac copied Bruce Hornsby's Changes; he's copied a lot of people's music. Lazy.

Mostly Irish influence due to a lot of Irish immigrating there in the 1840’s

Did you say Bobby Caldwell "sold the chords" to 2Pac?! Is that what you said? No, Bobby C. didn't sell nothing to 2Pac! Bobby Caldwell was the original songwriter. I doubt he sold his songs to anybody. smh
