A good dove challenge for you - Jordan with your single shot 410 and you with the "contender" 410 pistol. Your right about shooting with a single shot - you've got to make it count! With any calibre it does build your confidence and accuracy. Spent two nights hanging about watching geese - they're all over the place and no discernible patterns. Going to and fro the stubble fields not settling very long then coming back to the roost and dropping on to the newly drilled wheat field. We might give them a go tomorrow night but they are not joining their own large groups so what chance for decoys? Good to see your Dad at the end of the vid. He must have worked hard on the lodge - we give him a lot of credit but as parents we know how hard they work!! That was a nice dove hunting video. I have an 'old' 1918 break action .410 single shot that belonged to my father-in-law. Have never taken it to the field. I like your suggestion that it will make one a better shot. I am really impressed with how WELL Fred preformed in the field. Sooo much improved over last year. He will continue to improve with time. Don't know Fred's age but consider getting another dog when Fred is 8 or 9. Decades back I lost an entire year when my golden had to be put down at the end of dove season. It took a year to bring her replacement dog on line. Maybe a 20 ga. video with you and Jordan on dove would be good.

Hey Bobby, how about Rubber Duck only decoys duck hunt? So ridiculous it just might work.

Fred is acting very good! You might think about a double site on your gun to help you square up your shot. I rigid my Winchester vented rib with this and improved my shooting 100 percent. Midway down the barrel I drilled a small hole and took a piece of small electrical wire with red coating inserted it into hole cut it off about 16th" it has taught me to line up the middle of the Gun with the front site. If you line up both sites lead the bird depending on distance, 20 to 30 lead a little, 30 or more lead a little more. Leading a bird takes a little practice. I found that I was looking more down the side of my barrel than Tru site down the top of the vented rib. You need practice and shoot alot of clay pigeons to hone in on your site work. Where I used to go Pheasant and Quail hunting Longford Ks. I hold the record for Quickest limit 4 Pheasant by 7:30, and 8 Quail by 8:30 that was a good day. What sucks is I was done, Way to early. But it did give me the opportunity to work my Buddy Joe my Britney Bird Dog to help all my fellow hunters. It was the Best Hunt Of my Life! ALMOST!!

I’ve got the same .410 you can open the tube and feed shells in that way I think it holds 4 or 5 2.5 inch shells and 3 3 inch

Only a single shot because the magazine tube is blocked by the camera or if it’s broken. The Stevens 39A is basically the same gun, it was my first gun. Nailing a dove with one of these is a challenge!!!!

The reason your behind so many birds is because factory loaded 410 3” shells are only going about 1135 FPS and most standard 12ga is 1250fps. It’s enough to make a difference on a live target.

You should do patterning and shot talk on a 410 im trying to decide what 410 load i want to use as a universal small game and bird load but i dont want to wound animals trying to figure out the right load

Use the 2.5 in shells They are faster than 3in Less lead, I don't shoot the 3in,I hav been shootin 410 for the last 10yrs, I don't even kno what a 12g is,now we hav to use steel, I now use a 28g, I used the AA sporting clays 2.5 in 7.5 Good stuff
