Absolutely love this version. What better way to enjoy the old music then to find a way to do it to bring back memories while making your audience laugh. Watching in July 2020 during the Coronavirus pandemic. Just what I needed.

Saw these guys in person at 3 separate concerts, and each time they were great! Great singers, "intrumentalists", dancers, and comedians! Wonderful entertainers loaded with talent. A must see!

I attended an "Oldie but Goodie" concert in the early 90's and saw the Tokens perform The Lion Sleeps Tonight. I enjoyed it very much. They sounded just as good as I remembered when hearing it as a kid sometime during the 60's. But I enjoy this one even more! Great job guys! So glad I found this!

"The Lion Sleeps Tonight" was originally written and recorded by Solomon Linda in 1939. And the songs original title was "Mbube". Recorded under the South African, Gallo Record Company. Linda's original was written in Zulu, while the English version's lyrics were written by George David Weiss.

I had such a bad day today. My neighbor passed away from a heart attack. Requiescat in pace (May he rest in peace.) My charge card was compromised and three heavy charges were fraudulently put on my credit card, which fortunately the credit was dropped. But it shocked me to see it at first. Then I listened to this group sing "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" and it just brightened my day. Bravissimo to Straight No Chaser. What a great job. And they seemed to be having such fun performing this song..

Love it! The lead has a very nice and pure tenor and falsetto voice. Choreography was fun too!! Side note: This song has special meaning to me. My sister and I are both Leos. She loved this song. When the Lion King came out, it was a joy to learn this song was included in the sound track. After my sister passed away, whenever I would hear this song, it would bring tears to my eyes. It was fun to hear the song done with such fun and passion for acapella (another favorite of mine). Thank you gentlemen of No Chaser.

I wd rather listen 2the original Azanian cultural version (without the un- necessary buffoonery), that was stolen by a caucasian group in the 1950's-60's? &4which the originators NEVER benefit- ted from the $$$ millions the white group reaped from the song. Thus they did what the caucasian is infamous 4, being the cleptomaniac his-[own]- story reveals him 2be: he ripped them off of their hard-earned &well de- served financial rewards. What a pitiful shame!!! Therefore, it's imperative that we: "Tell The Truth & Shame the [lying, fork-tong -ued serpent/d-v-l". 'Nuff sed!

It was recorded by the Tokens in 1961, but I won't do the math! It was popular (and continues to be to this day thanks to The Lion King) when I was in elementary school.
