Hi everyone,
My name is Tracy and I garden in Zone 4/5 in Toronto, Canada.
Enjoy this update on the Quick Fire & Bobo hydrangeas. The panicles on the Quickfire hydrangea are starting to change to a light pink while those on the Bobo hydrangea are just becoming more white. 😊 Tracy

@@8bartlett I do realize this is over a year old and perhaps you've got the Limelight straightened out but in the event you do not you could cut them back about 1/ or less before fall and then again in late winter or early spring following. This should strengthen your stems nicely.

Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful hydrangeas! Did you train the quick fire into a standard/lollipop or did you buy it like that? It is absolutely stunning! I’d love to know what you use to fertilize your hydrangeas or how you prepare your soil. Thank you so much!

Tracy, your quick fire standard is stunning! ! How tall and wide does your quick fire standard grow?
@TracysHomeGarden
@TracysHomeGarden Жыл бұрын
Hi Polly, Mine is about 3-4 ft wide and 5+ ft tall. It is about 6 years old. I get a lot of winter kill and the tree doesn’t get a chance to grow to its max 6-8 ft size.

Your videos are very informative, I like to refer to your videos before purchasing plants. Do you recommend quick fire or Little quick fire? just wanted to get your opinion before purchasing. I am thinking of training it as a small multi trunk tree. What's your opinion on that?
@TracysHomeGarden
@TracysHomeGarden 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Navya! 💚🙏💚 In my opinion, the blooms on the Quick Fire is “nicer” than the Little Quick Fire (LQF)….and they both have similar beautiful fall colours and early bloom time; however, but if the smaller size is what you prefer, definitely go with the LQF. Happy gardening

@@TracysHomeGarden thank you! So do you think I could train the quick fire panicle into a tree eventually? Mine's still in the pot from the nursery it's about 1.5 feet tall no blooms, just foliage. Would it hurt it, or should I wait, do you think?
@TracysHomeGarden
@TracysHomeGarden 2 жыл бұрын
You can plant it in the ground, let it grow and send out a few long stems and divide/train it into a tree next spring. I have many videos on this on my channel.

Hello Tracy, Thank you for sharing your beautiful gardens with us. I too live in Toronto and am a garden enthusiast. Being out in my garden especially during this pandemic and lockdown has been a God sent. I recently purchased2 quick fire hydrangea trees for my front garden for either side of my front stairs because I fell in love with your tree in your front yard. I can’t wait until they start blooming. Your neighbours are blessed that they get to view such a beautiful display of colour every year. Continue posting your videos😀

Hi Lorraine, Thank you so kindly for your sweet comment. I'm so thankful and privileged - to be able to share one of the things that is so dear to me - gardening - with you and everyone else on KZfaq. Going through this lockdown (since March of 2020) has not been easy on many people so I'm so glad that, like me, you enjoy and find refuge in our love for plants and gardening. One positive thing I take away from this pandemic is - to slow down and enjoy many simple things we used to take advantage of - including gardening and plants. Just yesterday while having an easy morning meal with my children in the back garden - my 10 year old daughter realized the "scent" of the roses that are currently in bloom! She went over to take a waft and claimed that she has not realized until now that the roses smell so good! Before covid, we were always busy and on-the-go...over scheduling the children. We rarely had a Saturday morning where we were really enjoying our morning meal together as the children always had this lesson or practice. Thank you again for watching and enjoy the QF standard hydrangeas in your front garden! ps. When the Quick Fire is in bloom many people say they purposely walk by my garden to view the hydrangea tree.

@@TracysHomeGarden how long do you wait before you start to train them into a tree?
@TracysHomeGarden
@TracysHomeGarden 3 жыл бұрын
I usually like to do this as soon as I find a nice long & straight stem to work with. This process may take up to 3+ years to start looking “bushy” so the sooner you able the better.

@@TracysHomeGarden i want the single stem to be atleast 3 feet long before it branches out..should i wait till it gets 3 feet tall first and then train it into a tree?
@TracysHomeGarden
@TracysHomeGarden 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, do wait for a stem that tall to start in order to get the trunk of the tree to be as tall as possible.
