No, Tracy...deadhead every morning so that it looks good every day. Stalks are called scapes. A very nice one that reblooms is Krakatoa Lava (a beautiful on fire orange). New scapes coming as the first ones leaving. Love your garden though!

I love the gorgeous Hydrangeas, ferns… the planting areas are full and the plants seem very happy. I also like the pinky winky standard to fill the open space above the other plants. I have a pinky winky now, second year and I should look again and see how you did that! Also, sure I can propagate a few branches at bottom that are very snug to the ground. Thanks Tracey and Linh! Such a nice way to start the day!

I have all three and Little Lime is my favorite. In the right growing conditions, they can get pretty sizeable, but are still limited to a certain height and width. Limelight can get very big, which might not work in a lot of situations. Bobo is great too, but are pretty small, and I just like the blooms of Little Lime better. Another great compact panicle hydrangea is the Little Quickfire. Much different looking blooms than the previous three, plus has much better looking foliage. Somewhere between Little Lime and Bobo in terms of size.

I don’t cut mine that low. When I cut them like that they don’t rebloom it even bloom the following year. I take my time and carefully deadhead the stems individually. It’s so therapeutic!

I'm glad I found this video! I rooted a small Incrediball hydrangea several years ago and this year it has come up with a straight stem so I've decided to try to tree-form it. I'm wondering if that's a good idea though since Incrediball has such huge blooms. Nothing ventured, nothing gained though. Thanks for your video!

I don’t think tree form will work with a Smooth hydrangea like Incrediball. You can try to make trees with Paniculata (panicle) hydrangeas.

I have a whole row of these 10-15 plants that were planted as a foundation hedge in the front row due to their supposed small size. They are now over 5 feet tall and dwarf in height the 3-4 feet foundation hedges that were planted behind them. So, they will have to be moved somewhere else. A lot of these dwarf hybrids don’t seem to stay the size advertised. I have had mine about three years now.
@TracysHomeGarden
@TracysHomeGarden 24 күн бұрын
If you are warmer zones, the dwarf varieties may grow bigger than what’s on the labels…but 5 ft tall? Sort of like my Lava Lamp Flare - it was supposed to be 2-3 ft tall and it is now reaching almost 6ft tall. I wonder if they are mislabeled? I feel like a little taller is expected but double in height?! 🧐 So far our Invincibelles are still within the 1.5-2 ft tall.

I hope it works on yours. I had to spray our boxwoods with BTK and it worked this time. I did have to spray it twice this spring to make sure. The next cycle of the moth will be here in later summer…we will have to spray again. 🤨 Happy gardening!

Please tell me what and when you feed your hydrangeas? Thx
@TracysHomeGarden
@TracysHomeGarden 29 күн бұрын
Hi 👋 I normally give each hydrangea 1-2 cups of compost in the spring. Other than that they don’t get any other fertilizer. If you don’t give compost and want to feed it fertilizers, I would recommend to give each plant a handful (or less depending on size and maturity) of slow release Rose fertilizer or something like a general slow release fertilizer: 10-10-10. It’s important to remember- Hydrangeas don’t do well with too much fertilizers….so less fertilizer is better for them. Happy gardening!

Why do many of my plants have the dry dead leaves at the bottom? Is that over or under watering? Thank you!
@TracysHomeGarden
@TracysHomeGarden 29 күн бұрын
It depends on - it’s can be a sign of too much or too little water, or uneven watering, or could be due to “stress”, etc. I usually get this around the time when the blooms start to open up. At this time in their blooming cycle, the plant usually concentrates on putting out blooms and has to sacrifice the some lower leaves turning yellow. As long as the plant doesn’t end up loosing ALL the leaves then it should be okay. A few lower yellow leaves to help keep the blooms fresh and nice is ok for the plant.
