When he goes a extra crazy is when he actually uses the Cadmiun Yellow and Yellow Ocre and " Permanent Red ".....instead of just being a waste of paint 😉

The way he paints on the snow is so magical, it's like the moment the brush hits the canvas it actually looks like snow automatically. I've seen him paint snow sceneries so much but every time he does the snow part I still get amazed. He's the best.

I did a winter scene with black white and blue. I bet I blended 100 different shades of gray and blue gray. It worked out pretty good.

U can really see in this Painting that Bob's eyes keep looking over to the right at the Painting that is already finished that he did earlier and he's now replicating in a faster time. I heard his son say once on one of his appearances " now the way I do it is all thought up on the spot, I don't have any paintings on the side as reference or any numbers or stenciling, its just all off of your imagination "....🤔 when I heard that I was like does his dad do it that way with the painting on the side. And on most episodes u can not notice at all cus the good camerawork and the angle of the camera. BUT in this one you can clearly see Bob looking over at something to his right and then proceeds to painting ESPECIALLY noticeable when he does the 2nd set of clouds. I know I jus rambled on about that and that doesn't take anything away from the Legend but if anyone else out there didn't know, now you know . Love Joy and Painting and his Son is a great painter too. God Bless them both

I think the series started with him replicating a painting off to the side but I heard in later seasons he did away with that.

Bob claimed in a later episode that he's checking a monitor off to the side that shows the camera footage when he glances away like that. Seems plausible - there's a couple of episodes where he gives instructions to the camera man or makes comments on the choice of shot.

+kingofalldoughboys Judging from the shape of the blobs, I think he gets his paint from cans/jars rather than from tubes. He can scoop the extra back in the container and use it again rather than just throw it all away.

Although he was simply a scenery artist with a creative mind to him, I wonder if Mr. Ross also did some neat paintings of trains. And if so, he would've been made a splendid illustrator for the Railway Series, only he could've worked for Christopher Awdry's tenure part to make the perspective of railroading looked a bit as adaptive and universal as much of his artistry would look on a canvas. I just love how much world-building art you can make by using your imagination of what you see life from the human eye 👁
