Hey Everyone!
Husqvarna reached out and hooked me up with the first and only Gas powered pole saw, specifically designed for lineman and utility arborists.
They call it the MADsaw as an acronym for "Minimal approach distances"
Each saw is individually tested to meet OSHA 1910.269. Until now, similar products have only been available as hydraulic saws with cumbersome hoses while also confining you to a bucket.
Let's check it out !
www.husqvarna.com/ca-en/produ...
Hope you all had a great weekend! 🍻👊
** These video's are NOT intended for training or D.I.Y. Only properly trained and authorized personal are allowed to work on this equipment. Always adhere to work methods and procedures particular to the company you are working for. **
Don't forget to drop a 👊 along with where you're watching from!
Huge thanks to my Patreons!

One thing that will help the engine to last longer is to let it warm up for a couple of minutes to allow the cylinder's temperature to equalize. That saw lots like an incredible tool as you pointed out. Stay safe and thanks for all of the great videos.

I have repaired Husqvarna saws for a living. You probably only want to use non ethanol gasoline. Fuel stabilizer may be recommended. The stabilizer may already in the 2 cycle oil additive. The number one failure source is the gas turning to varnish in the carburetor. Read the manual.

Agreed. For someone who uses the machine every day, it may not be worth it. But for someone who relies on it to start the first time on emergency calls, canned gas can make a big difference. It's what all the fire companies I've seen count on.

@@Bobsdecline Periodically, you should run carb cleaner through the saw. I am not a seafoam fan. Recently, the shop I worked at has been using lucas injector cleaner quite a bit. Not sure if it was used on a Husqvarna.

@darkwinter6028
@darkwinter6028 3 жыл бұрын
@@ryank1273 Hmm... it would take a lot to actually do that... but... I suppose if you are in contact with something metallic that runs from the proximity of the high voltage line and the ground and you bridge the two with the chain/bar of the saw... just cutting the wire loose from the wooden support beam it’s sitting on won’t be enough to bring it to the ground. It might be enough to bring it into contact with communication lines, though - frying anything and anyone connected to them. An arc flash from the saw bridging high voltage to ground (or another phase) should be far enough away that it’s not fatal; but it would very likely mess you up really bad. Yeah... I think I’ll leave the utility work, to, ya know... the utility. 😉
@ryank1273
@ryank1273 3 жыл бұрын
@@darkwinter6028 Chances are if you cut a wire, those wires will make contact with the ground. Basic math, a common utility pole is about 40 ft, and the distance from each pole is about 150 ft. You see the issue? And when that wire comes down, it probably won't turn off immediately.
@darkwinter6028
@darkwinter6028 3 жыл бұрын
@@ryank1273 If you managed to actually cut all the way through that steel reinforced cable - yes, that would do that. The thing is, though, that’s a chainsaw on a pole. It’s highly unlikely to be able to do that - what’ll happen first is the chain teeth will dig into the cable, pull it around to the engine section of the saw, and jam. This, of course, will damage the cable requiring repair by the utility, and leave the saw caught up in the cable... but it won’t bring the line down all the way to the ground. Not a good situation; of course... and you can expect a big bill from the utility for having to come out and fix it.
@ryank1273
@ryank1273 3 жыл бұрын
@@darkwinter6028 That's true, but always assume that something can happen to the cable after it gets damaged though. Assuming that the worse can happen can make a difference between life and death. I don't know everything about electric utility, but I know that a damaged line could fail anytime.

No doubt you'll get nailed for using a 'non-electric' saw that you use to clear things that will power(recharge) electric cars. Even though the electricity is made by(most likely gas or coal or at best, hydro). Neat though.
@commoncentstx

Where do you see pros getting a hard time for using gas powered tools exactly? No one tells pro landscapers to use electric zero turns. No one tells pipeliners to use electric excavators. Hell, no one tells arborists to use electric chainsaws. And "no one" is a generalization. I'm sure it has happened once somewhere, but acting like it is a common occurrence is silly at best. This is simply not a thing, at all. If a carpenter is using a gas powered drill in a house with electricity, yeah, they might get a hard time. That's about the only possibility I see.

@@commoncentstx Just visit some of the more 'liberal' states and you'll see. Gas leaf blowers are outlawed in many communities in NE and CA(I think) Greenies are on a warpath pushing for for all electric devices yet they don't realize how that electricity is generated. I'm on a bit of a warpath myself. Nuclear!!! Most bang for the buck. Biden's CO2 promise is a joke. BTW, tread carefully when you say "no one" Too comprehensive and untrue.
@rupe53
@rupe53 3 жыл бұрын
@@nhzxboi ... BTW, many of those communities pushing for electric / battery blowers and mowers are more interested in the noise factor. Think along the lines of those restrictive HOA situations. As for how electricity is made, there is economy in the scale of generation. IOW, that power is likely made with only a fraction of the fuel you'd need to do it at home, and under much more stringent pollution standards.
