Hey Everyone!
I've been using the MADSAW for a few months now. While it's designed to provide an extra safety barrier when pruning limbs near power lines (while adhering to minimum approach distances), it's also up for the challenge when tackling much bigger jobs!
The MADSAW comes with everything you need, including an extension for a total length of 12.5 feet.
The revolutionary design of this pole saw, without question makes trimming danger trees much safer and it's a great addition to the tools of our trade!
Let's check it out ! 👇

It always surprises me that no matter how hard you work for you channel there are those that can’t give you atleast a thumbs up? 👍👍👍I know first hand what it takes to do our job. Time away from family & friends to continue doing your job & still they still give you a thumbs down? The nay sayers are probably the ones that could never do our job. Let alone take the time & commitment to do our job. Lastly could never do this job for thirty, forty or fifty years. I run into folks that say we must have balls bigger than a dump truck to do what we do everyday. None of my personal friends could hold a candle to what we do? We are in our own class. My hats off to you brother for keeping the lights on in your part of the world! 👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻

I like to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they were on a small screen mobile device and hit the wrong button by mistake. But it really doesn't matter... it's user interaction according to the youtube algorithm :)

Might mention that carrying a couple extra chains can save time. If you dull a chain, it's quicker to swap in a sharp one than sharpen the one on the saw. You can do a better job of sharpening a chain back in your shop. Extra chain: safer, faster, better
@deanminor1998

If you know what your doing you can sharpen one on the saw almost as fast as changing one out . And again if you know what your doing you can hand file just as good as a bench grinder can do .

Use the synthetic tool fuel, you can leave it in tank for longer storage time

I really appreciate the time you spent on demonstrating keeping your dielectric pole clean and stored safely. So, after seeing this more in-depth review, I have two new important points to add: First, all chainsaws will leak bar oil. If not now, it will eventually. That dielectric pole storage till you have is awesome, but for someone who thinks they can store the saw head with the pole, even bagged, I'd say, think again. Second, if I were using that saw in your place, I'd slip some 600V heat shrink over the aluminum section. It's not needed for direct protection of the operator, but it can still prevent sparks if say you contact two low voltage wires (which are certainly closer together than the length of that pole). For my own part (where I don't need dielectric tools), I LOVE my Stihl pole pruner, and this looks to be at least as nice. I wish I had that rear grip (and I'm thinking of making one now). My pole pruner has totally eliminated any need I might have for a regular chainsaw, and easily took apart a 16" thick cherry tree I once lost in a storm. Pole pruners are also much safer than chainsaws, since the blade isn't anywhere near you if it kicks back. Carrying an extra chain is a good idea, but so is having a file kit. If your truck has a vise, you can touch up the chain almost as fast as you can change it.

When you drain the gas, make sure you drain the float bowl of the carburetor too. There's usually a drain screw on the bottom right next to a drain hose, although that's speaking from experience with motorcycles and ATVs, not really chain saws. After that, pull the crank a few times, both with open and closed throttle, to suck the last few droplets out of the jets. In a pinch you can just dump the tank and then run it till it sputters out, but that's not perfect. Using a fuel stabilizer like Stabil helps too. I use Yamaha Fuel Med personally, but full disclosure, I worked at the dealership that sold it, good stuff tho. The reason you have to go through all this is that ever since they started putting ethanol is gasoline, they had to add a lot of emulsifiers to get the water-soluble alcohol and the oil-based petroleum to mix. If the liquid evaporates, these chemicals leave a nasty solid residue that can clog up the tiny jets in small engine carburetors. And since ethanol is highly volatile, it evaporates quickly at atmospheric pressure, even more quickly than the actual gasoline. Fuel injectors are pressurized, so they're not as badly affected. But carburetors are vented to the atmosphere, so they can "boil off" over time.

I mentioned this to the guy who came out and cleaned up around my service wires and he perked up when I mentioned it, he actually said he was stoked to hear about it. Looking at it closer I personally like the modularity to it as well as that rear grab bar jus to name a few of it's stand out features. Great review, nice detail. :)

I run Vp fuels 50:1 premix and I have stored my saws for 6 months with no issues at all and the vp 50:1 premix last up to 2 years thanks to the stabilizers that keep the oil and gas from separating and the fuel is also ethanol free which is the best part as ethanol will break down the fuel lines in engines if it is used extensively

Neat tool, and great video explaining it. My only question is, why didn't someone develop something like this years ago? The need is fairly obvious, and the materials and construction don't seem that much more complicated than the many other hot-stick tools that have been around for a long time.

Thanks for info. What do you use for PPE gloves and testing process? Familiar with them for Typical Elect Tech working on Panels. I had to attend various "Safety Sally" classes due to company going overboard. Most of these were folks like you, not EE's working as designers for Equipment builds. I do sand way back from Tech and keep my hand(s) in my back pockets. Finger pointing at live Sh!t drives me crazy. PPE for neck protections seems to be a weak spot, as memory goes. Worse event around me was ( wasn't there in person, btw ) but a pin hole leak in a water Line at 10KV DC, the tiny stream hit Tech and knocked him on his a$S . He was fine, but I kept an eye on those and made them replace even when not needed. I love High Pot testing. Great for testing ground systems as well. Grounds are so important yet neglected as trivial by too many. Sorry for long comment.

Aviation fuel is great for small equipment. Ethanol is poison for small engines, and they like the high octane with some lead. I haven't had to rebuild a carburetor since I switched.

Hey Aaron, I got a question about becoming a lineman. Do you work for your local supply authority? Or on a high voltage crew for an electrical company. I’m a 2nd year electrical apprentice in BC, and wanted to get into high voltage once I finish my apprenticeship. What would you recommend doing if you were in my position? Thanks Ps thanks for your content, keep up the great work :)
@Bobsdecline
@Bobsdecline 3 жыл бұрын
I work for our provincial utility and here we pretty much do it all! There are different departments of course, but our lineman are trained and work on just about everything. We then bid on specific jobs and most switch things up every once n a while. There are many different paths to take, so it's hard to give advice without knowing you specificly... My best advice would be to learn everything you can! The more you know, the easier life is and more opportunities will be available Definitely think long term. Where you want to be regarding family, kids and even where you like to live.

@Bobsdecline
@Bobsdecline 9 ай бұрын
I haven't tried the battery version yet., although I've tried battery pole saws from other manufacturers. The balance wasn't an issue at all and I'm comfortable with their performance with the power of lithium batteries nowadays. For the frequency we use pole saws I'd be comfortable choosing battery over gas.

@@Bobsdecline did you buy yours straight from the manufacturer or did you get it through a dealer. Been checking with our electric suppliers I’m going to a IMEA (Indiana Municipal Electric Association conference)1st week of October might ask there at the vendor Expo. Thanks for your reply be safe out there. Ok well we ordered the saw Electric with 2 batteries and charger. Should be here Friday or Monday. Will try to post a video of it in use.

to the comment of having to empty the tank while in storage.. just run Tru-Fuel or any fuel that doesnt have Ethonol... i know several linemen and at times im called in to maintain there small engines they run tru-fuel and its usually just a basic checkup i have yet to have to open up the carbs its the ethonol that destroys the membrain and surfaces of the aluminum carbs.. if i can say only one thing just keep everything properly maintained the more you care for your tools the more your tools care for you and your not fighting them. as for storage they prefer the small containers as they sit easily in there trucks and they dont have to monkey with the mix's as its premix straight out of the can.. i have the upmost respect for linesmen as theres no way you would catch me in buckets or at the hights they do... as we sit in a home without power complaining they are out in the elements dealing with the wilderness of the wild or urban areas in the cold wet or freezing days restoring the services.
