Our cat just hates my mother in law. With my wife & I she's a sweetheart. When the mother in law visits she hisses, tail goes down, growling, body down, she leaves the room etc. I tell you, she's one clever cat, she can sense evil !

A note, laying on their back with claws out can also be an invitation for playful roughhousing, though this can vary a lot from cat to cat. I looked over and there was a cat more than twice the size of my cat, my cat was rather small even as an adult, and it was hissing and growling at my cat, hackles raised. When my cat saw me he looked away from the other cat to look me in the face, gave me a greeting "meow," looked around a bit at his surroundings, smelled the grass, and then turned back to the hissing cat. Then he jumped from a standing start, landed on the other side of the larger cat, and the larger cat took off, my cat chasing it. I'm pretty sure he just wanted a good chase, because while he's never hesitated to have a tussle with other cats I've also seen him be completely relaxed and tolerant of other random cats coming to visit my place. He also loved riding around on my shoulder or laying limply across my neck, from one shoulder to the next. When he was younger and smaller he'd climb his was up there. I learned relatively quickly to always wear clothes covering my whole body, or to not stop moving for more than a second or two if I wasn't. He didn't give a shit about weather either. Snow? Rain? He didn't care. If he felt like going out he would go out. Sometimes when he got back in he'd have a centimeter of snow on his head and back. He didn't have very long fur, but it was relatively thick and more or less waterproof so he could get away with it, as the water never reached below the outer layer of fur. He wasn't any particular breed, but I'm pretty sure he had Norwegian forest cat somewhere in his ancestry. When he was really young he didn't let anything slow him down, not even doors. If a door is partially closed a normal cat slows down and slinks through the available gap. Not him. If a door wasn't opened enough for him to get through at the speed he wanted he would tackle the door at full speed to force it open enough. When I went to bed so would he. He'd lay down on the pillow next to mine, with his head or upper body draped on my shoulder and chest, head and neck snuggled up to my throat. I miss him. Rest in Peace Mongo, 27/3/2023. Yeah, I’m definitely familiar with love bites or attacking ones. I tried to give my cat enough attention where I wasn’t actually trying to make her feel scared. I can remember one time years ago when my cat was still young, I figured she didn’t mind being held paws up, even though it was my grandma who thought otherwise. Still, I let my cat give me a couple gentle nibbles on my thumb here and there.

I usually can put two and two together when they not only sink their teeth into my arm but claws also as deep as possible.

So as long as the cat does this infrequently or its not part of their normal behavior, youre good. I say that because i have a cat who is nothing but a fluffy baby doll that i can do anything with while the other would rather run from anyone who tries to touch her if she perceives being picked up. Also, i view the tail being up or down similar to a resting jerk face. It might be more comfortable sometimes than the more pleasant appearance of the tail in the air, or in our case a smile.

I adopted my cst 6 mos ago. She seems to love me and follows me everywhere, sleeps with me and is always waiting at the door meowing when i get home. She always sits by me on the couch. But she doesn't like to be cradled in my arms. She does the escape thing then climbs back up to my lsp. She also bites witout any warning, especially my feet when i am walking. She jumps out from behind or under something and attacks. I hope she doesn't secretly hate me. She's the first cst i have ever had that didn't like being cradled in my arms. But she was an adult already when i adopted her. So maybe she wasn't cradled before and isn't used to it? She does like to cuddle. I am just kinda worried noe that she secretly doesn't like me or is afraid of me.

I wouldn’t take it personally a lot of the time. They just don’t like people sometimes. I adopted a cat who was growling and hissing and biting the children so they placed him. The kids ruined his early life by insisting on holding him and he fought back. He only likes time on his terms and only likes his chin chestand neck and jowls scratched.

My younger cat likes to shiver her tail against the side of my leg when I happen to be on the toilet (usually when I get home). Incredibly annoying and alarmingly ticklish, but I do know she's basically wagging her tail like a dog on 3x speed because she's so happy to see me, so I just cover my leg with my hand when she turns around or walks underneath with her feather snake on vibrate. She'll catch you not looking and race in on occasion, though! The only other time she does that is when it's feeding time.

We have had 5 cats at different times. All of them were pretty easy going and loved affection in their own ways except for one. We got her as a baby kitten and she would squeal when held. My cat used to love to sit in my lap or set up against my leg lay across my lap my cat loved it when I held her she would lay across my shoulders but ever since I had to take her to the vet several times in one month and several times the month after that she does not like me to pick her up she will not sit in my lap she does not like me to hold her she does not curl up in my lap or beside my lap. At the end of the day she will lay beside me and let me rub her belly till she goes to sleep but any cuddling before bedtime she does not allow any more ever since I've had to take her to the vet and that was last year in March of 23 and April of 23 my cat was about 2 years old then first time she ever went to the vet and it's been a year now and she still has not got over it she does not allow any cuddling any holding or any lap. But like I said she still likes her belly rubbed when she goes to sleep for bed. She walks around with her tail up high in a little hook but then she acts like she don't like me pet her sometimes because she will lick it right off pick another time she wants me to pet her but the cuddling and the loving from my cat has diminished because of taking her to the vet.

There are lots of inaccuracies and even wrongs here. The licking of nose, or tongue just coming out repetedly, I have read is to better smell. They are insecure whether there's a danger, so they need to smell the environments. Cats have moments when they want to be by themselves. Respect this, and they will soon get back to you. Some cats don't want to be held. Doesn't mean they want to get away from you, just to the situation. If your cat don't like you, you don't need to look for subtle signs! And if you or your family is too much for it, you will see that it's not comfortable.

You got some of this wrong! For example: You forgot "scratching", or for declawed cats, "knuckling" really fast as you approach them.

The horizontal/slightly lowered tail has nothing to do with whether a cat likes you. It's a predatory posture. Even the clips you showed were of cats stalking, not disliking.
