The Amber Heard and Johnny Depp trial has captivated the world. Because it's taking place in the state of Virginia, and NOT a federal court - cameras are permitted, if a judge allows them. In this case, we have seen every moment. The emotion of the testimonies. The tears. The laughter. Johnny Depp and Amber Heard have been front and centre. Both are actors, and both are delivering very different testimonies. We've brought in Dr Louise Mahler - a body language and communications expert with decades of experience, to share her insights of the showdown, so far.
For more information on Dr Mahler, head to her website: louisemahler.com.au/

From my opinion, Miss Amber's reason's are all normal. And for not wanting to be there dep is once again trying to get back at her.. why's dep doing that?? Remember they are already divorced... So why would dep feel he can tell his side of "the story.." by acting it out? Like he was back in a theater or something? he seems kinda strange.. Usually there's NO standing up while giving testimony. So why can't dep just tell what, as he saw it, happen? The whole thing is like a bad show re-production. Truth is they're allowed to have their own opinions. And no one was a whitness inside their home to verify it. Like I said they were and are divorced. Why would dep want to put anyone thru watching this??? Maybe in deps mind he thinks the world wants to know about whats married life with dep like? I don't know, but most guys, when they say they want out! They want out and then they ARE..out. most can't be found again unless they want to be found.

@@nancydschans1172 But all of the AH witness accounts (HER OWN witnesses btw) disagree about key details tho? And there's no evidence? No photos that prove anything for her? No medical records or reconstructive surgery despite breaking her nose multiple times and no visible damage? Not one witness saw him commit violence at any time except her sister who had her back turned and also saw her hitting him? There is however proof that she has a history of lying under oath, and that she has abused him. This does not mean JD was even remotely a good partner, but is it not a case for the DEFAMATION suit? blindly believing AH is IMO just insulting to other victims of DV and SA at this point

I DO believe he is innocent (or at worst, _she_ is a physical abuser, and they had a BDSM relationship which she is now claiming as rape to avoid paying 50 million), but whether guilty or innocent, someone who wants to _appear_ innocent to revive their career. That said, someone who is GUILTY _definitely_ would _not_ want cameras in there.

@@impunitythebagpuss even though I was hurt badly, I never saw all men as being bad people. I grew up with 5 brothers who were wonderfully kind and good. They were my best friends. They grew into just as wonderful men, so I understood not to blame all men. However, there are men who see us women as the weaker sex and they abuse us. What AH has done to women in general is worse than any man has ever done. She has set women back so far and this trial will burn in people’s minds for decades. AH is an insult; an embarrassment to all women who have truly been subjected to violence at the hands of their male partners and husbands. She has cast a wide net of doubt over all women of future violence. However, I know at my core that she has unveiled the seedy side of narcissistic women who have unjustly burned men for ages. Two of my own brothers were married to abusive women and as much as I hate what AH has done to women everywhere, it’s about time that the world understands that there are good men who have been victimized by their spouses for far too long and then victimized again in our court system. I could be bitter with the outcome of this trial, but I am not. Instead, I am happy, because I understand what abuse is like and whether you’re a man or woman, only the truth should matter. I have known a few women like AH. It was sickening to listen to hear her lie day after day. There were times during the trial when I actually wanted to reach out and shake her. I know the significance of her lies, but instead of taking it personally, I see her unforgivable behavior as something that should have been done long ago. AH has leveled the playing field for men everywhere. Abused men have been vindicated I think women are most likely to be victims of abuse and we should take them all seriously when they come forward, but men can be and are abused by women and they deserve to be treated with the same care as afforded women. AH won’t hurt me, because she doesn’t represent who I am. I see her for what she is. I saw it in her behavior and I heard it with every word out of her mouth and she angered me. As I listened to some of the audio tapes of her mocking, taunting and demeaning Johnny, it also triggered the pain that I try to keep buried deep inside of me. She may be a woman, but the very way she was speaking to Johnny was the same ugly way my husband treated me. My husband was a narcissist and extremely jealous of me. He isolated me and made me feel ashamed, but I knew who I was. As much as I wanted my marriage to work and as much as I loved him, I realized that I wasn’t happy and that all of the love in the world couldn’t change him. He was a narcissist just like AH. I existed only to the extent that he allowed me. To date, AH date, is the most narcissistic woman I’ve ever come across. She represents what every woman doesn’t need representing us and what every man should fear. She needed to be brought down. She deserved to be found guilty. She earned it. I have said from day one, that the day she lied about her abuse, she officially ended any chance of a Hollywood career, but being a narcissist, she couldn’t get out of her own way. She thought no one could resist her or refuse her. She believes that she’s better than everyone else. She believes she’s the most beautiful among women; the most intelligent and the most charming. She demands that everyone see her the way she sees herself and she saw herself as a highly prized actress and public figure, but at the same time, she has always understood that she needed people to climb the social ladder. AH was a stripper. That’s why we heard Johnny refer to her as a .50 cent stripper. He knew her background and how she had used women and men, but he was blinded by what he wanted AH to be and being a good person, he hoped she could be that person who would love him back. I think Johnny knew from the get go she was bad news. Johnny isn’t a fool, but empathetic people like Johnny are willing to risk a lot to help others and especially to find love. I am like that. I’m not a stupid woman, but my heart tends to lead me . I’ve learned to reign in my heart when needed. But, like Johnny, I am a survivor. I am a fighter and if you manage to bring out the fighter in me, you’ve got a problem. I am happy for Johnny.

@@delilahrainelle7158 I am glad that you are okay now X I have experienced the same, and I completely agree with your statement. It's just like saying there's good and bad in every culture, nationality, religion, race and country. There are good and bad in all genders. You can clearly hear and see how JD has developed coping skills for abusive relationships. He has the means to be able to leave at the first sign of fights or abuse. He has owned all of his addictions and has been until now, an extremely private person. This was the only way that the truth could come out and him being so public about it, shows that he wanted to clear his name. Everything I have read from people who are close to him say the same thing. For someone so private to bring this out so publicly shows that there is more to this than AH's version of events. He has never tried to publicly tear her down. I think she has ruined herself.. nobody else could be bothered giving her the fake Publicity.

I had to testify against my abuser and let me tell you - it was raw, real and the tears were rolling uncontrollably down my face and I couldn’t stop my body from shaking. I actually nearly passed out reliving the horror. When I watched Amber Heard on the stand, I almost vomited because she clearly wasn’t a victim and she mocks what real victims endure. Pardon the pun, but it was a slap in the face to me. I will also mention that in my case, I had hospital medical records, 9 months of physician documented visits for physiotherapy, counselling and MRI scans for head injuries. I also managed to record him admitting to all the abuse he inflicted on me when I tricked him into thinking I’d forgive him if he only changed (they never do). I wish I could eradicate violence from this world, but for those poor souls who are on the receiving end of it, get any and all evidence.

Theres just something i dont forgive about a physiologically more powerful built human being, using that physicality to make one get in line with there own will. Over the years, I have only witnessed Johnny Depp being humble, self deprecating & kind to people. Using drugs has nothing to do with this. As Mr Depp says, the only person he’s abused in his life is himself. Heard during the relationship systematically carried out mental & physical manipulation & abuse of Mr Depp. That’s what a sociopath & in her instance a psychopath narcissist does without any care in the world. She couldn’t care less about anyone but herself. I feel sorry for people who have crossed her path or will cross her path in the future. People like her never change as they honestly think they are smarter than everyone else & in her case especially, her outside beauty is everything. Thank you Mr Depp for opening your life up to show us there is evil in the world…living “normally” amongst us & affecting the lives of those they come across.

I lived through an abusive relationship/marriage. She was arrested for domestic violence. The cops cuffed and threw me in the car before they realized what had happened by the scratches on my neck and face. Later, she still had the upper hand with the state in regards to our daughter at every turn. I could move on and escape her but our daughter couldn't, and that's what is sad. Finally, during a phone trial she put her foot in her mouth and acted just like AH. I just let her talk and she did, showing who she was to the judge. Yet, when this lady says that men have had the upper hand in all these cases I cringe. There are countless out there that don't pursue justice or get it. We're men and we're not wired to do that, the one's that don't hit women anyway. As someone with CPTSD from repeated violence in the home: when you're recounting a legitimate experience to someone, you're not focused on them to see if they believe you - you're back in that moment. It's alive to you, and your eyes go vague to stare at nothing because you see it happening in your mind. Unless you were concussed, you remember those moments with great clarity; yes, with certain mundane details, but most certainly the source of your fear, pain, and trauma is the least vague thing you remember from such moments. And you would, under no circumstances, badmouth or provoke your abuser, as has been heard in audio recording with AH to JD. Amber Heard is a spoiled child and a bully, throwing a huge, vindictive tantrum because she isn't getting her way, and she's making a mockery of those who know firsthand what abuse can be like.

That's very true. And people say "this act" because everyone puts on an act to a degree to the outside world, especially if you're suffering with deep trauma. You don't walk around telling everyone how depressed you are and walk around crying constantly. You stay home and avoid people on those really bad days. You put in a mask the rest of the time. Smile and make jokes, and say, yes I'm fine. I'm in group councilling for childhood trauma. And I'm the group clown, it's just something I've learnt to do to protect myself. Which is what I see Johnny doing. Where as amber in the other hand, she sounds absolutely nothing like the person in court conspared to the person you hear in the audios. Overly confident, in Johnny's face, hardly someone fearing for her life. Bit in court she's this down trodden shrinking violet. WTF but not a single tear in sight

Exactly. He is doodling and not concerning himself too much with her testimony because he knows it's a lie. He doesn't have to worry about keeping his story straight because he is telling the truth. When you're being honest it comes very easy because you arent having to keep your story straight. Scamber is constantly writing and taking notes and having a difficult time keeping her stories straight. She is very very Histrionic on the stand and constantly contradicts herself. What is tragic is that the UK trial is not allowed because she has literally changed her story about his finger 5 times! Johnny has stayed exactly the same and consistent all the way. And her constantly staring at the jury and even trying to engage with them is very VERY weird. When she repeats "a jar" it's a good example of how she has been trying to get the jury to buy into the tale she is telling. She constantly includes unnecessary details to make her stories seem more believable. She is always bringing up the floors, carpet etc but never explains about when she was barefoot and claims to have her feet cut up so badly, why there were no bloody footprints and how she was able to stomp around on those floors afterwards without medical attention or dressing her wounds. People still worry he could lose this which is astonishing to me because she has no evidence, no e of the injuries she has claimed to have and her retelling of events has been consistently inconsistent. I don't think she ever thought it would get this far. She underestimated Johnny, in that she didn't think he would ever be willing to expose himself in the way that he has. But Johnny is an abuse survivor. His childhood was much like mine was and when you have survived something like that you don't dare let another person ever get away with doing the same. And to add insult to injury ALSO try and destroy you because you refused to stay in a relationship as their victim/supply. How dare she think he would just sit back and watch her take everything he has worked so hard for. This amount of Narcissism she has to possess to believe that he would just let her take everything from him has to be insurmountable.

This expert seems to say that JD is acting. The only good thing she says about him is that he is "consistent." Yet, most people in the comments are talking about how JD has always talked like that. Maybe the 'expert' has to stay 'neutral' because she is doing this online/on TV; yet she says JD has "Chosen an act" of being slow and consistent. I do not think that is fair to JD. Is there any chance the Jury is actually following the Judge's instructions and NOT researching this outside of court? On the other hand he constantly looks down hiding his face when Amber speaks or during some evidences that would be painful to go through again. It is noticeable during him listening to the audio recording of him wanting to harm himself for example. During that recording he picked up tissue, after touching his eyes - he fought the tears but unlike Amber was trying to fight them through instead of showing or enforcing them. And compare it to Amber who looks completely fine when he speaks. Although he is more relaxed then the first days of trial, he still did not look at her. You are trying to hide yourself when you feel uncomfortable, you do not look someone in the face when you are scared/uncomfortable/stressed around the person. It is clear Johnny adjusted to the stress and got used to the trial so he laughs (plus he’s got pretty friendly lawyers, he feels secure around them) but still you can see he doesn’t like being around Amber and avoids eye contact with her.

I think we wouldn't know that he was abused or it would be known later, or via his friends or smh. Of course he is not fearful of her in a common sense, but for me he looks pretty uncomfortable. Anyway it is a non verbal signal of "I am ignoring you". It can rather be done in purpose, to show that she will not get the attention she wants from him, to show how deep he is offended or simply because he has PTSD (which a few behaviour analysts mentioned and which would be obvious), or a combination of all of the above. Anyway, if I would see an abuser telling lies about me and being forced to relive some of screwed up moments in my life I would not be willing to look at the face of the abuser either.
